With the Dragon Vein taken away, Sara's last thread of attachment to the Land of Wind had been severed.
The Rōran survivors lived as nomads, following the grasslands. Leaving their homeland and finding somewhere else to settle wouldn't be difficult.
But—
Sara pondered for a moment, then asked, "If we leave the Land of Wind, where can we go?"
Neji heard her and stroked his chin thoughtfully.
The Shinobi World was beset by constant war, but the Five Great Nations were still relatively suitable places to live. The smaller countries offered no better chance of survival.
However, if they went to one of the Five Great Nations, someone with ulterior motives could easily track them down. Their fate wouldn't be pleasant then.
Neji suddenly clapped one fist into his palm. "I'll give you two choices. First, I can escort the people of Rōran to the Land of Demons in the north, and pay a large sum to buy the Dragon Vein."
The Land of Demons?
Sara furrowed her brow slightly.
The Miko line of the Land of Demons had close ties to the Rōran line. If the Rōran survivors went there, they could receive the Miko's protection.
The problem was that the Land of Demons had no shinobi tradition, and it was far too close to the Land of Wind.
If Sunagakure found them, even the Miko wouldn't be able to protect the Rōran survivors.
Sara asked tentatively, "How much are you planning to pay?"
Neji held up one finger and said flatly, "A hundred million."
Sara, who had known poverty all her life, heard the figure and her mouth fell open in a perfect O.
Even if she sold all the Rōran survivors as a single lot, they couldn't scrape together a hundred million.
Seeing Sara's expression, Neji laughed.
