Exposure
What Wang Yue hadn't expected was that Si Teng, a member of the Yi people, could be so kindhearted. Though he felt a little frustrated, he was also relieved, glad he hadn't helped the wrong person.
Wang Yue knew Dali well, so it didn't take the two of them long to find a good place to keep watch, not far from the hotel where the Xuan Shi were staying.
From a distance, Si Teng gazed at the hotel where the Xuan Shi were staying, as if lost in thought. After a long while, she finally urged him, "Go back and get some rest. I'll stay here. From this spot, the plants in the hotel are all my eyes."
Wang Yue didn't insist. He smiled and complimented her. "I didn't expect you to be so warmhearted. You're nothing like the way they described you."
Si Teng kept her eyes on the distant hotel, seemingly not even hearing his praise. Calmly, she said, "Once you've died and come back to life, you'll understand how I feel."
Wang Yue wanted to say that he'd faced life-or-death crises plenty of times, but he couldn't explain it clearly, so he quickly changed the subject. "Red Umbrella isn't your target either. Why didn't you just say so?"
Only then did Si Teng turn and give Wang Yue a languid glance. She immediately looked back toward the hotel where the Xuan Shi were staying and said scornfully, "Some people really know how to take advantage and still complain. I'm helping you out, aren't I? If you catch Red Umbrella, Xuanjian Cave will have to compensate you with some good medicinal herbs."
Wang Yue was at a loss for words. "Come on. If Shen Yindeng really is Red Umbrella, everyone in Xuanjian Cave would already be dead.
