The Mad Mushrooms

The two of them had planned to wait a little longer before going in. They hadn't expected to hear cries of alarm from inside the cave just after finishing their preparations.

They rushed inside and saw that the cave was filled with mushrooms with bright red caps and white stems. Each one was bigger than the last, and many had mutated, growing terrifying mouths.

Many of the people crying out hadn't managed to escape in time. Mushrooms with mouths open wide had bitten them and swallowed them whole.

The mushrooms seemed to have no teeth—or perhaps their teeth weren't very sharp yet. They simply swallowed people whole, so there was no bloody scene of them chewing anyone up.

Even so, the people were terrified. Those who hadn't been bitten scattered in every direction, but there were far too many mushrooms in the cave. Clouds of mist kept bursting out, and after a few steps, people would collapse to the ground.

Even now, none of the villagers who had entered the cave connected what was happening to Shen Yindeng. Wang Yue and Si Teng, however, were another matter.

When Wang Yue saw what was happening, he shouted, "Shen Yindeng, looks like you've made up your mind to eat people. Yang Bo, are you sure you're not going to do anything?"

Wang Yue called out for a long time, but no one answered. Shen Yindeng said nothing, and Yang Bo didn't respond either.

Wang Yue sensed that something was wrong. Could Yang Bo already be dead? Or had he joined forces with Shen Yindeng, just so the villagers who entered the cave could replenish her energy?

Si Teng had thought of that possibility too, and prepared to charge into the cave with Wang Yue.
