A couple of days later, the Eldest Princess sent someone with a letter explaining the full story behind the massacre of General Lin's family.
It turned out that Prince Li Peiyan had joined forces with Xia Hou while the King of Tang was away from Chang'an. They had killed General Lin's entire family and made the case airtight, leaving the King of Tang no way to clear General Lin's name. After all, under Tang Law, what they had done wasn't illegal!
