A Hidden Ambush
Prince Ding's estate was actually quite close to Wang Yue's home, just one alley away. Carrying the two of them, Wang Yue glided through the air and soon reached the skies above the estate.
He took a quick look around, picked the room with the brightest candlelight, and slowly descended onto its roof.
At first, no one seemed to notice. But when Wang Yue landed on the roof, the guards in the courtyard spotted him and immediately raised the alarm.
Zhi Mo was the first to come out of the room. Following the guards' gazes, he saw Wang Yue on the roof and gave a cold snort. "Wang Yue, what do you mean by breaking into the estate in the middle of the night?"
Wang Yue casually tossed the man in black he was holding toward Zhi Mo, then said in a frigid tone, "You're asking me? I'd like to ask you the same thing. Did your people send this man to spy on me?"
When Zhi Mo saw Wang Yue throw someone at him, he was about to slash the man with his sword. But after hearing Wang Yue's words, he instinctively drew back his sword and caught the man with one hand. Wang Yue had thrown him with considerable force, though, and Zhi Mo staggered backward several steps before regaining his balance.
He forcefully circulated his Internal Energy once, easing the discomfort in his chest and abdomen. Then he set the man on the ground and pulled off his face covering.
