Shi Miao's face showed no trace of a smile. Instead, she asked coldly, "Are you hiding something from me?"
The smile on Shi Fen's face froze. Looking awkward, he said, "Of course not. When have I ever lied to you?"
Shi Miao had been Shi Fen's little sister for long enough to know a thing or two about her brother's little tricks.
Watching Shi Fen glance around, she asked seriously, "Did Mom and Dad get divorced?"
Shi Fen gave an awkward smile, then said sheepishly, "You already know?"
Seeing him admit it, Shi Miao felt awful. She asked earnestly, "I know now. You're always dragging me off to play hide-and-seek—is it because Mom and Dad argue at home?"
Shi Fen's eyes widened. He thought he'd hidden it pretty well. How had his little sister figured it out again?
He quickly looked at Wang Yue, then demanded angrily, "Was it you? Did you tell my sister?"
Wang Yue hurriedly waved his hands. He didn't want to take the blame, so he quickly denied it. "It wasn't me. Your sister figured it out herself."
Shi Miao furrowed her brows and asked uncertainly, "Then why did you change my alarm this morning?"
Shi Fen smiled awkwardly. Since he couldn't hide the biggest thing from her anyway, what was the point of keeping this from her?
So he said sheepishly, "You know Dad likes to drink, and Mom's argued with him about it plenty of times. I got up early because I wanted to tidy up the house before you woke up."
Shi Miao couldn't hold back her tears. She'd always thought Mom and Dad couldn't get along because of her brother, and that her own life was such a mess every day because of him. It turned out she'd been mistaken about everything.
