Huang Yimei had no idea that Wang Yue had quietly driven away one of her admirers. She was extremely busy with her career and hadn't been keeping up with the gossip in Beijing's social circles lately, so she didn't know what had happened in Bai Xiaoche's family, either.
After Wang Yue called her, she went over to his place. The first thing she noticed was a new crib in the room.
Huang Yimei's heart gave a little jolt. She glanced into the crib and saw the baby lying inside.
She knew the child was almost certainly Bai Xiaoche's. She couldn't figure out why Wang Yue had brought the baby over, so she decided to wait and see.
She kept a smile on her face and cheerfully joined Wang Yue in playing with the baby, giving him no clue what she was feeling.
Huang Yimei's calm demeanor made Wang Yue feel a little uneasy, but he didn't dare ask her about it. Instead, he pretended to bring it up casually. "Rose, when should we have a child of our own? Then our kids wouldn't be too far apart in age and could play together."
Huang Yimei could tell that Bai Xiaoche's child hadn't made Wang Yue think of leaving her. She also understood that she mattered more to him than the child did, and that made her happy.
She gave Wang Yue a long look. When he still didn't mention Bai Xiaoche, she couldn't help saying, "I'm not as foolish as Bai Xiaoche. If you won't marry me, how could I possibly have a child with you?"
That was exactly what Wang Yue had been waiting for. He immediately pulled a pair of rings from his pocket, took one out, then took Huang Yimei's hand and slipped it onto her finger.
