"Chen, why are you so happy?"
Chen Yu had just hung up when Xiao Lin, the colleague seated beside him, asked.
Chen Yu couldn't stand Xiao Lin. The guy had no sense of boundaries, and though he was young, he loved playing people off against each other. He reminded Chen Yu of the Student Union officers from back in the day. Worse, Sister Lu was all too fond of that sort of thing, turning the once pleasant office atmosphere into a toxic mess.
The old Chen Yu would have ignored him completely. But now, wanting to follow his wife's example and get along with people, he answered casually, "It's nothing much. The station chief needs me to take care of something, so I have to head out."
Hearing that the station chief wanted to see Chen Yu, Xiao Lin could only feel envious. He watched Chen Yu leave.
Xiao Lin thought he was a hundred times better than Chen Yu at handling people. If he could get in front of the station chief, he'd move up even faster.
Just as Xiao Lin was feeling disgruntled, Sister Lu came over with a folder in her hand.
She looked around and, seeing that Chen Yu wasn't there, frowned and asked Xiao Lin, "Xiao Lin, where's Chen Yu? It's work hours. What did he go off to do?"
Xiao Lin's eyes shifted as he realized he had a chance to trip Chen Yu up. He immediately buttered her up. "Sister Lu, Chen Yu said the station chief wanted to see him. Didn't he tell you?"
Normally, if the station chief called an employee in, Sister Lu would have been no more than envious. But after hearing Xiao Lin's explanation, she suddenly felt that Chen Yu had looked down on her.
"When Chen Yu
