Chapter 28: The Waste Redesign Competition

Wang Yue and Ruan Wan's married life, of course, didn't include a honeymoon. They were still in school, after all.

However, Wang Yue and Ruan Wan agreed that once they held their wedding with both families during the summer break of their junior year, they would go on their honeymoon.

Wang Yue had been taking meticulous care of Ruan Wan these days, and she was finally learning what it felt like to have a boyfriend. He was always by her side, looking after her so carefully that she felt as if she had almost forgotten how to do anything for herself.

Watching Wang Yue, whose attitude had changed so drastically as he tried his best to be a good boyfriend, Ruan Wan felt blissful. But one time, as he walked her back to her dorm, she took a few textbooks from him and said, "You really don't have to do all this."

At that moment, Wang Yue suddenly understood what Xiao Nai had said to Weiwei when he had just started courting her. The words came naturally to him.

"Guan Guan, I've never been in a relationship before, and this is my first time being a husband. I often don't know what I should do. But at the very least, I want to do everything other people can do!" Wang Yue gazed at Ruan Wan, who looked especially enchanting in the night, and spoke with heartfelt emotion.

"You're too good to me!" Ruan Wan didn't know how Bei Weiwei had felt when she heard those words, but she immediately threw herself into Wang Yue's arms, speaking through tears.

With her soft, fragrant body in his arms, Wang Yue held his beloved woman happily, though deep down he was also deeply apprehensive. He doubted he'd ever meet such a wonderful girl in the real world. At least for as long as he was in this world, he would make sure she was happy. Thinking this, Wang Yue tightened his embrace around her.

After they had hugged for a while, Wang Yue checked the time and reminded Ruan Wan that she should head upstairs before the dorm closed. Only then did she reluctantly let go. She walked into the dorm building, looking back every few steps.

Wang Yue waited for several minutes after she had completely disappeared inside. Only when he could no longer see her silhouette through the stairwell window did he turn and leave.

Wang Yue had barely gone ten meters when he suddenly heard footsteps running behind him. He quickly turned around and saw Ruan Wan running back. She linked her arm through his and said with absolute certainty, "Husband, I'm not going back tonight!"

It was the first time Ruan Wan had called him that so naturally. In an instant, Wang Yue understood how she felt.

"All right, you're not going back, then, wife! The past can't be changed. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you!" Wang Yue said solemnly.

"Husband, may I find someone who loves me with all his heart, and stay with him until our hair turns white!" Ruan Wan said, then suddenly smiled. She looked incredibly happy, as if she had been given a new lease on life.

From then on, Wang Yue and Ruan Wan lived... Well, the story hadn't ended yet. The two of them simply spent many nights away from their dorms, making love night after night.

As the second semester of their junior year neared its end, the college suddenly held a waste redesign competition. Wang Yue and Ruan Wan were busy planning their summer wedding, so they didn't take part. The others did, but none of them won anything. In the end, only Zheng Wei's design received an Award of Excellence.

That wasn't even the most important part. As Xu Kaiyang put it, the real issue was that Zheng Wei and Chen Xiaozheng had somehow gotten involved with each other again.

Because he'd used the word "involved," Zheng Wei chased Xu Kaiyang for several streets. True to her nickname, Little Flying Dragon, she kept after him until he couldn't run anymore and fell flat on the grass. Zheng Wei pounced on him, straddled him, and pummeled him.

The two were horsing around, completely unaware that Chen Xiaozheng and Zeng Yu had seen them as they walked by. Zeng Yu said something, and Chen Xiaozheng clenched his fist, then eventually relaxed it.

Someone took a picture of the four of them. Wang Yue had just bought a digital camera to use on his honeymoon that summer. Han Wen liked it so much that he took it everywhere to snap pictures.

He had been taking pictures of the scuffle, capturing Xu Kaiyang and Zheng Wei playfully brawling, and ended up getting all four of them in the shot.

Han Wen wasn't sure whether he should show the pictures to Young Master Xu.

When everyone returned to the studio together, Han Wen quietly found Wang Yue and showed him the pictures he'd taken. Wang Yue thought for a moment, then told Han Wen to get Zheng Wei and Xu Kaiyang to look at the pictures together. As soon as he reached that one, Han Wen should make himself scarce and leave the rest to Xu Kaiyang.

Wang Yue went to get Ruan Wan, and the two of them went home together to continue their shamelessly amorous daily life. They both enjoyed it immensely.

Zhang Yang and Liu Lei asked Zhu Xiaobei, Li Weijuan, and the others to come out with them and wait for Han Wen. They were planning to go sightseeing and take pictures. Their junior year was nearly over, and they wanted to make happy memories everywhere they went.

In the end, only Xu Kaiyang and Zheng Wei remained in the office. Looking at the photo of the four of them, Xu Kaiyang said sarcastically, "Look at that guy you like. What a mess. He just held your hand, and now he's walking side by side with someone else."

Seeing Zheng Wei's expression shift unpredictably, Xu Kaiyang continued, "And then there's Lin Jing. He comes back and stirs you up, then runs off. Isn't he just like someone teasing a cat?"

Zheng Wei had seen Chen Xiaozheng vacillating between her and Zeng Yu, and then thought of how she herself was torn between Chen Xiaozheng and Lin Jing. Looking at Xu Kaiyang, who had always stayed by her side, she thought how lucky she was to have him.

Xu Kaiyang had no idea that, in that moment, Zheng Wei had compared him with Chen Xiaozheng and Lin Jing. If he'd known, he might have been overjoyed.

Afraid Zheng Wei would feel down, Xu Kaiyang sighed and changed the subject. "Wang Yue's planning to marry his bride according to the old rites this summer. Do you want to go?"

"I hadn't heard about that. Ruan Ruan even kept it from me?" Zheng Wei's attention was immediately diverted.

"They probably haven't worked out the details yet. Wang Yue didn't know Ruan Wan was Buyi, so he planned a traditional Han wedding for her, with the Three Matchmakers, Six Engagements, Three Letters, and Six Gifts. Ruan Wan was happy too, because she thought it was a Buyi wedding. Then the two of them compared notes and realized the mix-up. The wedding Wang Yue had spent so long researching, the surprise he'd planned for Ruan Wan, was off the table." Xu Kaiyang remembered Wang Yue's reaction at the time and laughed again.

"Serves him right. If he'd talked it over with me, this wouldn't have happened!" Zheng Wei grumbled.

"Come on. If he'd discussed it with you, it would've been the same as discussing it with Ruan Wan," Xu Kaiyang said, exasperated.

"Am I really that bad at keeping a secret?" Zheng Wei asked in surprise.

"What do you think?" Xu Kaiyang said.

"I-I'm not that bad, am I?" Zheng Wei replied.

"So, are you going to the wedding, staying on campus, or going home?" Xu Kaiyang didn't want Zheng Wei to fret, so he changed the subject.

"I-I'll go a little later, but I'm definitely going," Zheng Wei said firmly.

"All right, I'll go with you. We'll go together," Xu Kaiyang sighed.

"Haha, Xu Kaiyang, you're the best!" Zheng Wei said, beaming.

Xu Kaiyang felt helpless. Meeting her really was his undoing.
