Chapter 30: Xiaobei Gets Bullied

Wang Yue's honeymoon ended. He mailed the gifts he brought for his family back home and then he and Ruan Wan returned to school.

Back in their class, they distributed the wedding candies they had prepared to every classmate and a few professors in the department. They also hosted a banquet for everyone one weekend.

At the banquet that day, Wang Yue played a condensed version of his and Wanwan's wedding using a projector, which made the girls in the class incredibly envious.

The professors in the department, on the other hand, sighed that weddings should indeed be like this; the tradition of Three Matchmakers, Six Engagements, Three Letters, and Six Gifts was the proper ceremony for marrying the Mistress of the Household.

Soon, the grand wedding of Wang Yue and Ruan Wan became the talk of the school.

The junior and senior male students were heartbroken that such a beautiful senior had gotten married. However, they felt a bit better knowing she married a Great God from their own department. At least she was "taken" by someone from within their own ranks; it would have been truly devastating if one of the already scarce beauties had been "exported."

As for the junior female students, they were all envious and jealous of the wedding. Few of them felt like they had lost a husband. After all, despite Wang Yue being rumored to be a Great God, he wasn't that handsome!

In this era where looks are everything, Wang Yue's chiseled face didn't attract many girls. Good looks were justice, especially now with the prevalence of pretty boy idols.

The others planned to stay and work at Wang Yue's Studio. Wang Yue felt that once they graduated, he could upgrade the Studio into a company.

This year, the Studio had already begun recruiting other students from the school and some outstanding juniors to cultivate backup talent for the company.

Time flew by. This day marked the application period for study abroad quotas. Neither Wang Yue nor Ruan Wan applied for overseas study, which relieved those competing for the spots. After all, if Wang Yue had applied, he would have most likely been accepted, as several professors thought highly of him.

One day, while Wang Yue and Ruan Wan were studying in the library, Wang Yue's phone suddenly vibrated. He answered a call from a classmate and learned that Zhu Xiaobei had trashed the school supermarket.

When the two rushed to the scene after packing their things, the supermarket was already in ruins, and Zhu Xiaobei was crying inside.

Wang Yue pieced together the reason from the surrounding students, which gave him a massive headache. He didn't know what to do. He had no choice but to quickly call a lawyer friend for advice on how to handle the situation.

His friend advised him to reach a settlement with all parties involved at the supermarket as soon as possible and then contact influential leaders they knew to see if the matter could be handled discreetly.

Wang Yue immediately contacted a department head he was on good terms with. Without much pleasantry, Wang Yue explained the situation, hoping to keep Zhu Xiaobei from being expelled, and asked for the supermarket owner's phone number.

Upon hearing the details, the department head stated that Zhu Xiaobei was a well-known good student in the department and that he would do his best.

Wang Yue contacted the supermarket owner, but the matter got stuck here. The owner refused to settle, which was rather unusual.

Wang Yue frowned, sensing something was amiss. He had offered double the compensation, yet the owner was still holding out, which didn't seem like the behavior of a businessman.

Wang Yue was troubled. There must be a special reason. Looking at Zhu Xiaobei crying through the broken window, what had made her so angry? Was this incident truly an accident?

Regardless, after this incident, Zhu Xiaobei's American Dream was shattered.

Wang Yue thought that lawyers were useful for such matters, as they dealt with them frequently. So, Wang Yue called his lawyer friend again, explaining the situation.

Upon hearing that the other party refused to settle even with double the compensation, the lawyer friend stated that usually, there were greater benefits involved in such situations and advised him to proceed cautiously.

Taking his friend's advice, Wang Yue said that his only goal this time was to ensure Xiaobei wasn't expelled; the amount of compensation didn't matter, and he would listen to the lawyer.

This sudden incident made Wang Yue feel quite powerless. Faced with such a situation, he couldn't handle it, and he felt utterly depressed. He had to vent this frustration.

Turning back, he returned to the small supermarket. He asked Ruan Wan to take Zhu Xiaobei back to the Studio first while he handled the follow-up matters here. Wang Yue found a relatively clean table in the small supermarket, placed his laptop on it, pulled a box over to sit on, and began to work.

First, he found the supermarket's security camera footage backup and saved it. Then, using the campus's public surveillance cameras, he obtained all the footage of the conflict between the security guard and the students.

Finally, he looked up the supermarket owner's information and examined his bank card transaction records. He did find something. The owner had business dealings with a large supermarket, purchasing goods from them at prices far below the normal rate. Considering the small supermarket often had expired food, the problem was not hard to guess.

Sighing, Wang Yue organized the evidence and called the supermarket owner again. As soon as the phone was answered, he heard a rude refusal.

Wang Yue interrupted him directly and said, "You'd better come over. If you're not here within 20 minutes, I'll hand over this record of your transactions with a certain supermarket chain to the Administration for Industry and Commerce."

In less than 10 minutes, the supermarket owner arrived. Upon seeing Wang Yue's project spreadsheet, he immediately knelt. The owner quickly agreed to a settlement.

For added security, Wang Yue arranged for him and the lawyer to sign a settlement agreement.

Seeing that Wang Yue only wanted to resolve the trouble and wasn't specifically targeting him, the supermarket owner reluctantly signed.

Wang Yue also deleted the evidence he had just obtained with one click in front of him.

Seeing how decisive he was, the supermarket owner knew that Wang Yue could easily get another copy anytime he wanted, so he did Wang Yue a favor.

It turned out that the security guard and the security chief were relatives. Wang Yue just needed to deal with the security chief to resolve the issue.

Wang Yue was speechless, but he still played the evidence he had just found about the security guard in front of him, leaving the supermarket owner dumbfounded.

After the owner left, Wang Yue took his laptop and went to the security chief's office. Half an hour later, the matter was resolved normally.

The rest depended on how the school handled it, as the school operated like a parental authority, with considerable leeway in punishments.

The next day, the results of the handling came out. Since the supermarket stated they also bore some responsibility, and Zhu Xiaobei had already compensated them, they would not pursue any further responsibility from Zhu Xiaobei.

The security chief also said the security guard bore some responsibility and that he had already disciplined the guard. With the department head speaking on Zhu Xiaobei's behalf, the matter was quickly resolved without further negative impact, and Zhu Xiaobei received a severe warning.

It was a pity, however, that due to this disciplinary action, her application for studying abroad was rejected. Moreover, the domestic postgraduate entrance exams for this year had already ended.
