Chapter 35: The Second Generation Meets a Hacker

Ruan Wan and Wang Yue took Little Yuan Yuan for a stroll around the school. The initial excitement they felt before arriving had calmed down the moment they stepped onto campus. Only Little Yuan Yuan found everything new and exciting, mostly because her parents had been with her every day recently.

After visiting a few familiar teachers and professors, the trio prepared to return to their temporary residence. Before entering the residential area, they spotted a sports car parked in front of the office building.

Wang Yue asked Ruan Wan to take Yuan Yuan home first, while he walked into the office building.

"Zheng Wei, tell me where Juanzi is right now, or I'm not leaving today!" Wang Yue heard someone shouting as he entered.

The people in the office seemed accustomed to this, continuing with their work. However, having someone barge in was still quite irritating.

"He Yi, how many times do I have to tell you, Juanzi has already left. Get lost!" Zheng Wei was clearly at her wit's end.

"If you don't tell me, I won't leave!" He Yi clearly only feared Xu Kaiyang and didn't take this small company seriously at all.

"You'd best leave on your own, or you'll regret it!" Wang Yue pushed the door open just as Zheng Wei was about to throw something.

"And who are you?" He Yi maintained his nonchalant attitude.

"Oh really? Do you know how reckless you're being? Does your father know?" Wang Yue took out his phone and made a call.

"Mr. He, yes, it's Wang Yue. Oh, nothing much, just that your son is here and refusing to leave. I'm not in the capital, I'm in Yuezhou right now. Yes, I'll have him take the phone." Wang Yue put the call on speakerphone and handed it to He Yi. "It's your father calling!"

Without any dramatic confrontation, He Yi, half-believing, took the phone. He then respectfully handed it back to Wang Yue, clasped his hands together towards Zheng Wei, and scurried away.

"You know Mr. He?" Zheng Wei asked, astonished.

"Why else do you think He's Corporation would cooperate with us?" Wang Yue rolled his eyes.

"Isn't it because of Juanzi?" Zheng Wei was even more incredulous.

"Just going with the flow. He Yi used to be a playboy, but he never pestered anyone like this. Do you think he'd have the guts without Old Mr. He's tacit approval?" Wang Yue explained.

"I don't quite understand!" Zheng Wei looked a bit confused.

"It's nothing. My guess is that this old fox sees that we all get along well. If he can help his son find a reliable daughter-in-law, he'd think it's a good thing. Plus, it would bring us even closer," Wang Yue said, feeling a bit smug. He was a small shark now.

"Wouldn't an arranged marriage between equally matched families be better?" Zheng Wei didn't quite understand.

"Given He Yi's reputation in their circle, any parents who aren't completely clueless wouldn't push their daughters into a fiery pit," Wang Yue added silently that He's Corporation was already showing signs of decline, and most people wouldn't want to join a sinking ship.

"Alright, honestly, I heard from Xu Kaiyang that besides being a womanizer, this guy is quite decent, and Juanzi quite likes him!" Zheng Wei said with a hint of regret.

"It's not that they don't have a chance. For most second-generation rich kids like him, if you're just a pretty face, he'll just play around. But if you have enough substance, he'll talk about feelings. Actually, you're quite lucky; Kaiyang is a rare exception," Wang Yue said earnestly.

"I know, it's just that there's a knot in my heart I haven't let go of," Zheng Wei sighed. She didn't really know why she couldn't let it go.

"You continue with your headquarters' matters. I'm going back to accompany my wife!" Wang Yue raised an eyebrow, sensing that Xu Kaiyang might be close to success.

After leaving Zheng Wei's office, Wang Yue encouraged Han Wen again, telling him to take good care of their base. Han Wen hadn't expected to be able to take charge so soon; it was a pleasant surprise.

The family of three stayed there for a few days. As they were preparing to return, Wang Yue suddenly received a call from Zheng Wei. She said there was a safety issue during the construction of a building the company had participated in designing.

This was the first Level 2 building their company had been involved in designing, and Xu Kaiyang had helped secure the project. Although the construction team belonged to Dongfang Xingchen, neither Zheng Wei nor Xu Kaiyang ruled out the possibility of Weimei Design or Kaiyang Building Materials being scapegoated.

Their trip back to Beijing had to be postponed. For any boss, the first thing to do upon hearing about an accident was to investigate the facts. As a Hacker, Wang Yue immediately hacked into the construction site's surveillance system.

Wang Yue's fingers flew across the keyboard as he downloaded the video and replayed it repeatedly.

"It looks like a problem with the building materials!" Wang Yue was observing when Ruan Wan, having put Yuan Yuan to sleep, sat beside him.

"Mmm, most of the materials for this project were provided by Kaiyang Building Materials. But based on our years of cooperation, Uncle Xu wouldn't be so short-sighted," Wang Yue said, finding it hard to believe it was Kaiyang Building Materials' fault.

"Mmm, I also think something's wrong. But if Kaiyang Building Materials is at fault, Xu Kaiyang's family would suffer significant losses," Ruan Wan said cautiously.

"They might go bankrupt. Let's start by watching the video and see if someone replaced the materials," Wang Yue said, resuming his rapid typing. He added, "I hope Xu Kaiyang is lucky. After all, construction site videos are usually only saved for three months. I'll check if there were any replacements during that period!"

"You're amazing with computers, husband. When did you learn?" Ruan Wan marveled at how much her husband knew.

"I studied for three years before coming to Huadong Construction, with two Great Gods teaching me," Wang Yue said, half-truthfully.

While Ruan Wan was marveling at Wang Yue's luck, he had already downloaded three months' worth of videos. This was clearly not normal internet speed.

After watching for a while at double speed, they both felt their eyes getting tired. So, Wang Yue found a motion capture software. It was a simple program designed to capture movement in dark video footage. After some optimization, Wang Yue pulled Ruan Wan to bed.

Of course, before going to sleep, he called Xu Kaiyang to prepare him mentally, as it was common for material suppliers to be blamed.

As expected, on the afternoon of the second day after the accident, the investigation results showed that Kaiyang Building Materials was to bear most of the responsibility due to quality issues, while the construction party, Dongfang Xingchen, bore some responsibility.

Xu Kaiyang was mentally prepared, but he still found it hard to accept. He had studied architecture and was well aware of the dangers of substandard materials. After joining the family business, he had imposed extremely strict requirements in this regard.
