Digging at the Roots
Yu Tu was surprised by Qiao Jingjing's words. He had never told anyone about the time she confessed to him back in the day, so how could anyone know about it?
He suspected Qiao Jingjing and Wang Yue were involved, but he wasn't willing to take the blame in front of Wang Yue. He looked at Qiao Jingjing expressionlessly and said in a distant tone, "I never told anyone about you confessing to me back then. You must have let it slip yourself, right? Of course, if something I did caused trouble for you, I can help clear things up. Just tell me what you need me to do."
Qiao Jingjing had still been a little angry, but after hearing Yu Tu's careful reasoning, she couldn't stay mad.
After all, back in high school, she had confessed to Yu Tu when he was alone.
He had heard her out and rejected her without hesitation.
But she hadn't been willing to give up just because he turned her down. She had asked why he wouldn't let her call herself his girlfriend, and what was wrong with her.
Yu Tu hadn't given it any thought. He had simply said that he wanted to find someone who would work hard alongside him.
Because he had rejected her so cleanly and decisively, she still remembered it vividly. She clearly recalled how, right after saying that, he had picked up his basketball and walked off. The whole thing had taken only a few seconds, and there had been no one else around.
Later, the story that she had confessed to Yu Tu had spread from the girls' dormitory. In other words, Yu Tu hadn't been the one to let it slip.
That left Qiao Jingjing feeling a little awkward. So the
