A rare situation had occurred: Bronya actually turned a deaf ear to Mei's question and walked straight into her little room. Mei scratched her head in confusion, then returned to work in the kitchen. Tonight's dinner was tomato beef stew.
That night, she woke up by the lake.
And found herself picking at her feet.
The enemy had vanished, and all the water in the lake had evaporated. Mei looked around, but there was not a single pedestrian anywhere in sight.
She was the first to shudder, feeling that this matter seemed to have something to do with her.
She quickly fled the scene, terrified of being discovered.
Strangely, no one had come looking for her even now. She had attended school for five days, yet no one had even discussed the lake's disappearance. It was as if an invisible hand had wiped away every trace of that battle.
