Mei was cooking when she heard the door open. She couldn't help peeking out, and when she saw Bronya, whom she hadn't seen in a long time, she was pleasantly surprised—but even more puzzled. Bronya wouldn't come back for no reason, and judging by her movements, she seemed more hurried than usual.
After spending so much time together, Mei had become good at reading emotions.
"Bronya?"
Feeling that something was off, Mei asked, "Why did you come back? Did Zhao Bai... treat you badly?"
This place was like Bronya's family home. When she moved out to live with Zhao Bai, everyone at St. Freya Academy had known about it. At first, they had been deeply in love. Like every newlywed wife, after a period of forgetting her family home, Bronya had finally remembered Mei.
Mei was deeply moved.
But Bronya stopped at the doorway. As she stepped inside, Heavy Cannon Rabbit activated search mode and began observing the place Theresa had set foot in.
It looked the same as before.
Yet Mei's heart suddenly trembled.
When Bronya walked through the door, Mei felt an alienating sense between them, as though a pitifully thick wall now stood between them.
Sigh.
Bronya, on the other hand, felt nothing of the sort. Sister Mei was still Sister Mei, and that idiot grasshopper was still that idiot grasshopper. Nothing had changed—except that the place Theresa had set foot in was clearly messier than before Bronya left.
"Bronya came to take the principal's things. She has an unspeakable secret that we found out about, so she's temporarily staying at our house. She has temporarily joined us."
"Joined you?"
Mei froze.
A scene appeared in her mind.
Theresa kicked the door open and shouted at the bed in her clear, childish voice, "Let me join too!"
