Zhao Bai shook his head and shielded Bronya behind him.
Before the thunder rang out again, Bronya saw the monster slowly emerge from the shadows.
Zhao Bai noticed the change in her expression.
He took out a razor and held it to his throat, the sharp blade pressed tightly against his throbbing carotid artery. As it pulsed, the blade cut into his flesh. Dark red blood streamed down his arm as Zhao Bai raised his head and stared into the empty void.
"I, Zhao Bai, challenge the knight to a duel!"
As the words left his mouth, the enormous monster vanished from Bronya's sight and revealed its form to Zhao Bai.
The first step could be considered a success for now.
It was a knight. It would actively challenge others, and naturally accept challenges from others as well. Zhao Bai had taken this risky step to test whether it could be changed. As for the razor, that was so he could die more quickly if he failed.
