Directly beneath the five Hokage stone faces, a long table had been set up on the rooftop of the Hokage Building. Candles burned beside an incense burner, along with several pieces of calligraphy and writing implements once used by Hiruzen Sarutobi. Behind it rested the wooden coffin containing his recovered body, with a bouquet of white flowers Tsunade had placed atop it. Further back, on a cushioned seat, stood a large portrait of the Third, Hiruzen Sarutobi. White-haired and deeply wrinkled, he wore a gentle smile as he looked upon the Konoha ninja gathered on the Hokage Building's rooftop to pay their respects.
More than two hundred Konoha ninja stood in a dense crowd, all dressed in black, their expressions either sorrowful or solemn. The Jonin and Special Jonin stood neatly in formation, with Asuma Sarutobi, Kurenai Yuhi, Kakashi Hatake, Might Guy, and others among them. The Chunin and Genin stood on the other side; Umino Iruka, many Academy teachers, Naruto Uzumaki, and others were there as well.
Wu Yu was also dressed in black, standing amid the silent mourners. His gaze passed over the shoulder-to-shoulder crowd and settled on the balding old man in the photograph behind the coffin. Come to think of it, he had not actually had much contact with this old man, who had been the subject of so many conspiracy theories. They had met most often back when he had gone on missions with Team Seven. Whenever they came to collect a mission, he would see the smiling old man.
