Likewise, since this was my first time putting pen to paper, I didn't have a very good grasp of pacing and such. The protagonist leveled up too quickly, so it was inevitable that I wouldn't be able to write too many words.
Padding the word count would have been quite easy, but I didn't think there was any need to do that. Once the protagonist's strength had increased, many problems could be solved in simple and efficient ways.
Padding just for the sake of padding felt rather embarrassing to me.
I couldn't have the protagonist do things that didn't match his level of strength.
Of course, that was also because writing novels was only a part-time job for me, and I typed all of these more than five hundred thousand words out on my phone, one character at a time. (Quite proud of that.)
