Ning Fengzhi forcefully suppressed his displeasure and continued smoothing things over, his voice still warm.
"Young friend, you have come from afar. You must be tired."
"May I ask what advice Young Friend Lin Chuan has for our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect?" He deliberately ignored Zhao Linchuan's seating arrangement.
Zhao Linchuan leaned comfortably against the broad chair back as if he were in his own home, lazily picking at his ear. "Advice would be too much."
"I was in a bit of a rush on the road, and now my stomach is completely empty. Sect Master Ning, how about... getting me something to eat first?" He looked as though he had merely dropped by to mooch a meal.
"Fine! Please wait a moment, young friend!" Ning Fengzhi did not hesitate, immediately calling out, "Someone! Go to the kitchens at once and have them send over the finest feast as quickly as possible! There must be no mistakes!"
"Not bad, not bad." Zhao Linchuan crossed one leg over the other, a teasing smile on his face as he sincerely "praised," "Sect Master Ning truly understands people. Your skill at serving others is genuinely first-rate."
"You bastard! You court death!" Gu Rong could no longer contain himself. Violent Soul Power erupted like a volcano, and the phantom of a ferocious bone dragon flickered into view behind him.
The terrifying pressure of a Titled Douluo crashed down upon Zhao Linchuan as though it were tangible!
The air in the grand hall seemed to freeze solid!
This time, Ning Fengzhi did not try to dissuade him. His face darkened as well.
Zhao Linchuan's words were no longer merely rude—they were naked humiliation!
If he continued yielding, where would his dignity as Sect Master remain?
Yet Zhao Linchuan seemed entirely unaffected by that terrifying pressure. With great interest, he turned his gaze toward the enraged Gu Rong. "This must be the renowned Bone Douluo?"
"Hmph!" Gu Rong snorted out a killing chill through his nostrils. "That is correct! My name does not change when I walk, nor does it change when I sit—Bone Douluo Gu Rong!"
"Ohhh!" Zhao Linchuan drew out the sound, revealing an exceptionally punchable, provocative grin. "I wonder, Bone Douluo... can you still eat?"
"You little beast! What the hell did you say?!" Gu Rong's fury was completely ignited, like a powder keg set aflame!
Though it sounded like a question about eating, in this context it was no different from pointing at his nose and calling him old, useless, and washed up!
"Don't get so worked up." Zhao Linchuan spread his hands, looking innocent. "I meant nothing else. I was simply asking whether an elder like you, Bone Douluo, can still eat lunch today."
"That's all~" That casual manner only made people even more furious.
Ning Fengzhi's face darkened completely, and he said nothing more.
Zhao Linchuan had provoked and humiliated Gu Rong again and again. If he continued speaking up for him, he truly would be caught between both sides.
He watched Zhao Linchuan coldly, determined to see what this brat was really plotting!
"Good! Good! Good!" Gu Rong laughed in extreme anger, saying "good" three times in a row. Killing intent nearly materialized in his eyes. "Little beast, since you are tired of living, this old man will grant your wish! Come out!"
"I'll let you understand what it means to insult a Titled Douluo at your peril!"
Zhao Linchuan gave a scornful laugh. Azure Light flashed in his hand, and the Azure Light Demon-Slaying Sword silently appeared in his grasp. Its tip pointed diagonally at the ground, emitting a clear hum. "That is exactly what I want."
"It will be a fine chance to test whether you, this so-called 'self-taught' Titled Douluo, earned your reputation through nothing but boasting."
"And while I'm at it... I'll give you a few pointers!" Before his words had faded, his body became a streak of Azure Light so swift it was almost impossible to see. He instantly blasted through the roof of the hall and shot into the skies!
"Little beast! Give me your life!" Gu Rong was furious enough to smoke from every orifice. With a roar, the bone spikes around his body swelled wildly, and he transformed into a fierce, ghastly-white streak of light in pursuit!
The violent Soul Power smashed an even larger hole through the roof, sending shattered stones raining down.
"Uncle Gu!" Ning Fengzhi shouted in alarm, the inexplicable unease in his heart abruptly intensifying!
Zhao Linchuan's actions were far too abnormal!
Provocation, humiliation, taking the initiative to challenge him... this was far more than youthful recklessness!
What exactly was he trying to do?
Chen Xin slowly opened his eyes and looked at the hole in the roof. "Fengzhi, you know Old Bones's temper. After being humiliated like that, if he does not teach that brat a lesson, he will never swallow this grievance."
"Let him go."
"Alas..." Ning Fengzhi looked at the dark, roiling thunderclouds beyond the hole and could only sigh helplessly. Yet the ominous feeling in his heart grew heavier and heavier.
He rose to go outside and assess the situation.
Just as he took a step—
BOOM!!!!
A deafening blast, far more terrifying than any before it, erupted Without Warning from the distant heights of the sky, as if heaven and earth were collapsing!
The sound was so tremendous that the entire Seven Treasure Grand Hall shook violently!
Immediately afterward came a shriek so agonized and terrified that it barely sounded human!
"AHH—!!!"
Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin's expressions changed dramatically!
BOOM!!!
A charred, smoking, mangled figure fell from the sky like a meteor and smashed heavily into the plaza outside the Seven Treasure Grand Hall!
The hard white jade paving stones instantly cracked like a spiderweb, while dust and smoke billowed outward!
"Uncle Gu!" Ning Fengzhi cried out in utter horror and shot out of the hall.
Chen Xin was even faster, already appearing beside the charred figure.
Gu Rong's entire body was blackened. His clothes had been reduced to tatters, wisps of green smoke rose from him, and every strand of his hair stood on end, still crackling with sparks.
His arms were crossed protectively over his chest. At the point where they crossed, a longsword flickering with faint Azure Light lightning was deeply embedded!
It was none other than Zhao Linchuan's martial soul, the Azure Light Demon-Slaying Sword!
The wound was scorched black, giving off the pungent stench of burned flesh.
He lay on the ground, his body still twitching unconsciously. Blood seeped from his nose and mouth, and his aura was feeble.
"Seven Treasures Turned to Glaze! Sixth: Heal!" Ning Fengzhi's eyes nearly split with rage. Without hesitation, he summoned the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, and the sixth Soul Ring blazed brightly.
A seven-colored pillar of light brimming with life force instantly enveloped Gu Rong, healing his terrible wounds with all its strength.
"Hehe..." A soft laugh filled with endless mockery drifted down from high above.
Everyone looked up to see Zhao Linchuan floating beneath the thunderclouds at some unknown point, his robes fluttering, utterly unscathed.
He made a grasping motion toward the ground.
Sshk!
The Green Light Sword embedded in Gu Rong's arms abruptly tore free, bringing with it a spray of blood and blackened scraps of flesh as it became a streak of light and flew back into Zhao Linchuan's hand.
"As expected, you are a counterfeit with an undeserved reputation—utterly incapable of taking a single blow!" Zhao Linchuan's voice rang clearly throughout the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, filled with contempt and disdain. "Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect? Nothing special! Farewell!"
Azure Light flashed. The Flying Sword tore through Space, and Zhao Linchuan's figure instantly vanished into the thick thunderclouds as though he had never appeared at all.
"Cough, cough... pfft!" Under the powerful healing light of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, Gu Rong coughed up several mouthfuls of black blood. His injuries recovered at a visible rate,
but his face remained paper-white. Worse than his physical wounds were the crushing blow to his spirit and the overwhelming humiliation.
"Uncle Gu! How are you?!" Ning Fengzhi asked urgently.
