Background / History

Simulated lives

In the first documented simulation, Xun Er arrived at the Misty Cloud Sect with Ancient Clan elders after Xiao Yan died from the backlash of his own fused Heavenly Flames. Refusing Ye Hao's explanation, she blamed him for Xiao Yan's death, attacked the sect, and ultimately killed Ye Hao 2.

In a later simulation, she grew up alongside Ye Hao in the Ancient Clan. After her mother died, Ye Hao comforted her and cared for her injured meridians, strengthening their bond. Gu Yuan later sent Xun Er to the Northwest Continent to retrieve the Tou She Ancient God Jade, despite Ye Hao's wish to accompany her 3.

Before departing, Xun Er promised to return after completing her mission, expressing her desire to marry Ye Hao and have children with him. When Ye Hao later found her in Wu Tan City, she immediately agreed to leave with him, abandoning concern for her mission 4 5. When Soul Clan experts trapped them with a Space Seal, she remained at Ye Hao's side and chose to live and die with him 5.

Rebirth and search for Ye Hao

Xun Er later awoke believing she had regained memories of a previous life rather than experienced a dream. Remembering the Soul Clan's role in separating her from Ye Hao, she swore vengeance against them 7.

She searched Wu Tan City for Ye Hao with a portrait, recognizing him even while he used the alias “Hao Shuai.” Her initial encounter with him was complicated by Nalan Yanran's hostility and Ye Hao's refusal to reveal his identity 12 14. While waiting for a supposed appointment outside the city, she mistook the disguised Ye Hao for an enemy and ordered Ling Ying to capture him; she recognized him after their clash 26 27.

Xun Er later confirmed that she retained memories from the second simulation, but not from the first simulation in which Xiao Yan had killed Ye Hao. She left the Xiao Family and traveled with Ye Hao after their reunion 28 29.

Appearance

Xun Er is a beautiful young woman most often depicted in light purple clothing. Her eyes can flare with golden flames when she is angered or emotionally distressed 7 12.

Personality

Xun Er is intensely devoted to Ye Hao and consistently places his safety above clan obligations, personal safety, and political consequences. She abandons her mission to leave Wu Tan City with him, travels to support him after the Ye Family's attack, and openly threatens anyone who attempts to harm him 5 60 103.

Her affection also makes her possessive and jealous. She treats Nalan Yanran as a rival from their first meeting, spars verbally with Ya Fei, and becomes wary when she notices Xiao Yi Xian's growing feelings for Ye Hao 12 29 34. Despite this, she saves Xiao Yi Xian from a magical beast without hesitation and later gives Zi Yan an Ancient Clan communication talisman for protection 33 104.

Within the Ancient Clan, Xun Er is defiant and decisive. She rejects arranged-marriage proposals, accepts blame for Ling Quan's death to shield Ye Hao, and punishes Ling Shui when he acts against him 60 83.

Xun Er searches for Ye Hao after recovering memories of the second simulation. Her mistaken attempt to arrest the disguised Ye Hao ends in a reunion, after which she leaves the Xiao Family and travels with him 14 26 27 29.

Monster Mountain Range journey

While traveling with Ye Hao, Xun Er helps defeat threats in Green Mountain Town and the Monster Mountain Range. She saves Xiao Yi Xian with the Green Lotus Flame, remains alert to other women approaching Ye Hao, and worries for him after his battle with the Purple Crystal Winged Lion King 32 33 34 37.

Return to the Ancient Clan

After Ling Quan's death, Xun Er returns temporarily to the Ancient Clan to prevent further backlash against Ye Hao. Before leaving, she orders Yun Yun to protect him and indicates that she may still be able to leave the clan secretly 49 50.

Defending Ye Hao from the Ancient Clan

Xun Er openly rejects the elders' attempts to arrange her marriage and declares that she has already given her heart to another. She later makes an example of Ling Shui for sending assassins after Ye Hao, warning the clan against further attempts on his life 60 83.

Support at Haotian Hall

After learning that the Ye Family had humiliated Ye Hao, Xun Er defies the elders and travels to the Black Corner Region with Ancient Clan experts. She brings the results of her investigation into the Leaf Jade Pendant and stands beside Ye Hao when Soul Hall forces arrive 103 104.
