Background

Jiu You was the most outstanding genius produced by the Nine Nether Sparrow Clan in ten thousand years, carrying the bloodline of the Ancient Undying Bird. She left her clan to gain experience, but her lack of resources contributed to her initial failure against the Black God Tribulation. She remained in the Black Nether Abyss as a black giant egg while recuperating. 24

Lin Suchou found her in the Volcanic Crater and used an Equal Contract Scroll to bind their bloodlines. Jiu You initially attacked him with purple flames, but the contract suppressed her. After he offered her Golden Sacred Phoenix Spirit Essence and Heavenly Ranking essence blood, she accepted the resources, faced the Black God Tribulation again, and emerged in human form. 24

Following her rebirth, Jiu You traveled with Lin Suchou, carried him in her true form, and provided him with a Jiu You Fire seed to enhance his spiritual energy. She later brought him to the Great Luo Heaven Domain and back to Jiu You Palace, where she learned that its finances, territories, and manpower had declined during her absence. 25 28 31

Jiu You accepted Lin Suchou into Jiu You Palace and supported his three-year plan to restore its standing. She endorsed his reforms of the Jiu You Guards, including reducing the force to one thousand members and instituting regular elimination assessments. 31 33

After Lin Suchou returned to the Great Luo Heaven Domain, Jiu You worked with him to reclaim cities from the Blood Eagle King’s faction, expand the Jiu You Guards, and prepare for the Great Hunting War. Her clan later summoned her to ignite her ancestral bloodline. Although Elder Tian Que initially considered Lin Suchou’s connection to her a contamination of her bloodline, he accepted their relationship after Lin demonstrated that he could further improve her lineage. 286 288

When Huang Xuanzhi of the Phoenix Clan sought to seize her Ancient Undying Bird bloodline for his Nine Turns to Sainthood Art, Jiu You and her clan were placed under overwhelming pressure at the God Transformation Pool. Lin Suchou intervened, protected her, and helped secure the resources that enabled her eventual evolution into an Ancient Undying Bird. 434 439

Appearance

Jiu You can assume the form of an enormous Nine Nether Sparrow wreathed in black or purple flames. After her first successful Black God Tribulation, she took the form of a tall, mature woman with long black hair and a striking, wild charm. 24 25

Personality

Jiu You is proud, blunt, and fiercely independent. Her initial response to Lin Suchou’s contract was open hostility, and she defied the Black God Tribulation rather than accept defeat after her earlier failure. 24

Despite her pride, she is deeply protective of those she recognizes as her own. She treats Tang Bing and Tang Rou as younger sisters, remains devoted to Jiu You Palace despite its decline, and personally offers to confront the Blood Eagle King to protect Lin Suchou. 31 32 202 203

She also has a teasing, affectionate side around Lin Suchou. Their early “elder sister and little brother” dynamic gradually develops into a romantic partnership, though she initially mocks his age and height. 25 29 33
