Early the next morning.

After breakfast, Feng Qi asked Mist Lord for leave and left Old Days Academy.

At eight in the morning, they arrived at a Slaughter Factory in the northern district of Old Days City.

Although he had already decided to accept the Spirit Race's recruitment, Mist Lord still wanted to restore as much of his strength as possible before joining, in case of any unforeseen emergencies.

After paying, they got out of the car and found a modern processing plant before them.

The roads here were clean. Transport vehicles constantly drove out of the factory, delivering processed goods to various locations throughout the northern district.

Feng Qi curiously looked toward the other side of the slaughterhouse.

Many tents had been set up there. Wisps of cooking smoke rose from iron pots outside the tents, and the wind carried over a rich scent of meat. Many ragged figures could be seen chatting or fooling around nearby.

They looked downtrodden, yet their faces were full of smiles, as if they were immensely satisfied with their lives.

"They're a recent batch of human Scavengers taken in by Old Days City. They've been temporarily placed here, supported by this slaughterhouse, wasting away their lives eating and waiting for death," Mist Lord explained.

Hearing this, Feng Qi carefully studied those Scavengers.

Then a smile appeared on his face.

"Look how happy they are."

"What's the point of being happy? They're just wasting time," Mist Lord said, shaking his head.

"Being able to find happiness in wasting time is what it truly means to use and enjoy time. Working for your race's rise like you do is what really counts as wasting time, even if you have no choice."

Mist Lord was about to refute him, but suddenly seemed to realize something.
