Background / History

The Uchiha were formerly one of Konoha's foremost clans, though their old hostility toward the now-vanished Senju Clan had largely faded by the time of Siming's arrival 3. The clan retained more than a thousand members, including ordinary non-ninja clansmen whose safety became central to debates over rebellion 29 69.

Under Uchiha Fugaku, the clan's relationship with Konoha deteriorated severely. Fugaku recounts that the clan was prevented from subduing the Nine-Tails despite his Mangekyo Sharingan, blamed afterward for the disaster, and relocated from central Konoha to its outskirts 29. Danzō's subsequent pressure further excluded the clan from Konoha's leadership 29 31.

The clan became divided between Uchiha Xianren's Hawk faction, which advocated open rebellion, and Uchiha Yashiro's moderate faction, which argued that Konoha still needed the Uchiha's military strength 4. Their dispute was not merely ideological: Xianren prioritized clan pride and resistance, while Yashiro warned that ordinary clansmen would be abandoned by a reckless uprising 69.

Following Shisui's death, the clan came close to revolting, but internal arguments and Siming's intervention prevented an immediate war 27 30. Suspicion from Konoha, the Hyuga, Yamanaka, and Aburame Clans intensified the crisis, especially after Yamanaka Fu and Aburame Toru disappeared near Uchiha territory 41 42.

After Danzō's death, Siming gathered the clan in its ancestral hall, pursued compensation for its grievances, and declared himself its supreme leader. Fugaku publicly supported him, shifting effective authority toward Siming 96. When Siming exposed an Anbu spy within the clan compound, the enraged clan resolved to rebel against Konoha 97.

The Uchiha later severed ties with Konoha and helped establish a new nation, the Land of God 175.
