January 1st, 6:00 AM.
The docks were already packed with people, and the vendors had started their business.
White smoke curled upward as all kinds of smells assailed the nose.
The heaviest was, of course, the lingering fishy stench—after all, eighty percent of the stalls sold seafood of every variety.
Amid this lively atmosphere, Su Wu first swallowed a few pills, then began wolfing down seafood.
He was now a bit envious of Sukuna's actual mouth—it could move freely and even grow on his stomach. If he could eat with two mouths at once, the efficiency would surely be high, and the quantity would certainly be a lot too.
Thinking this, he rubbed his own abdomen again.
Come to think of it, it was strange. Before attending the convention, he had clearly drawn two extra pairs of eyes on his face and a large mouth on his stomach, but after transmigrating, they had mysteriously vanished.
Still, if he had four eyes on his face right now, people would probably be treating him like a monster. Their disappearance was a good thing.
After eating and drinking his fill, Su Wu began searching everywhere for the presence of airships.
Ships docked at the pier, and airships naturally had their own designated area.
This wasn't hard to find—any random passerby could point Su Wu in the right direction. The truly difficult part was—
On the flat open ground, airships were neatly lined up in rows, all looking exactly the same. The only way to tell them apart was their serial numbers.
When he asked further about the flights, there were no fewer than a dozen airships heading to different locations on the Aijin Continent alone.
And Su Wu had no idea which one to take. He couldn't just pick one at random, could he?
The information he had found before only mentioned the Aijin Continent, with no specific location.
"Is this also part of the test... How troublesome." He scratched his hair, noticing that it had grown a bit longer than when he first arrived in this world.
It had clearly been a wig before. After transmigrating, it becoming real was one thing, but it could actually grow too?
"Just find where the person with the strongest life energy nearby is, and that should lead me to the exam airship..." He rubbed the straps of his backpack with both hands, muttering to himself.
Anyone connected to the exam should have stronger life energy than ordinary people.
All he had to do was focus on analyzing the information the Six Eyes fed back to him...
The individual with the strongest life energy was like the brightest spot in a pile of thermal images.
An hour later.
The white-haired, blue-eyed boy plugged his nose with tissue and downed his medicine in silence.
Based on what the Six Eyes had observed, there were quite a few ability users in the vicinity. Most individuals had life energy levels that seemed roughly equal, but a few were a cut above the rest.
"Let's go check those people out first..." He headed toward the one the Six Eyes had identified as the closest and also the strongest in life energy.
A moment later, he stood in front of a shop that looked very unsavory, lost in thought.
There was no security guard at the door, so Su Wu stepped inside.
Outside, the sun was bright; inside, it was pitch dark. The distance of a single door seemed to divide day and night.
The shop was very quiet. The people inside appeared to have gone through a night of sleepless revelry, sleeping like the dead in various places.
And the person with the strongest life energy observed by the Six Eyes was a man.
A man with disheveled clothes, holding a woman in each arm.
His belt was loose, his zipper wide open, his upper body completely bare. His well-defined muscles bore both scars and red lipstick marks.
He sat on the sofa, one arm around each of two half-dressed women, his head drooped as he slept soundly, like a worn-out lion.
This scene was a bit much for a child, but Su Wu's expression remained calm, completely unfazed.
This guy didn't seem related to the exam at all—more like a gigolo—but... trying wouldn't hurt.
Su Wu took two steps toward the sofa. The man, who had been sound asleep, suddenly lifted his head and opened his eyes.
Amber eyes held none of the daze of just waking up—only sharp, piercing edge.
When he saw that the visitor was a young, delicately featured boy, his tense body gradually relaxed.
"This isn't a place for a kid your age. Get out." He let out a hungover groan, pressing one hand to his forehead as he spoke.
The white-haired, blue-eyed boy just stood at a distance and asked in a cold tone, "Are you the examiner for the Hunter Exam?"
The Hunter Exam... that was a long time ago for this man.
"No, I don't have the time. Can't you tell? I'm busy." He gestured with his eyes toward the women beside him, his tone full of implication.
Busy drowning in drink and pleasure every night, huh.
Su Wu turned expressionlessly and left.
Not an examiner. No point wasting time talking to him.
The second person with strong life energy was a chef—one who specialized in cooking magical beasts, probably a Gourmet Hunter.
His restaurant was located in the center of Banato, surrounded by high-end malls and landmark buildings. When Su Wu found him, he was busy refining his culinary skills—or rather, using cooking to train his abilities. After being approached, he straightforwardly said he didn't know anything about this year's exam.
The third was a woman. Long black curly hair, fair skin, beautiful face, long legs—a sexy, mature beauty.
The sudden appearance of Su Wu didn't surprise her; instead, she calmly stated that if Su Wu was willing to wear women's clothing, she would answer his questions.
The scream after Su Wu sliced off half her hair echoed across half of Banato.
By the time he tracked down the last target, there was no trace of a smile left on Su Wu's face.
"It's you, isn't it? The Hunter Exam examiner." The white-haired, blue-eyed youth's tone was low, as if deeply dissatisfied.
Better be, or else...
Ah, how annoying. If not, he'd just find some excuse to punch the guy and vent.
"How did you find me?" The man's expression showed confusion, as if asking who had exposed his presence.
He wore a sharp, well-fitted suit, his hair slicked back, dressed like a gentleman.
"...Not you either." Su Wu clenched his fist.
"Wait, don't get angry..." The man instantly raised his hands in surrender.
"Peace forever, peace forever." He muttered twice.
"Even though I'm not the examiner, I do know a little something~" He spoke with a grin.
Su Wu's clenched fist slowly loosened, his face expressionless as he stared at the other. "Did you use an ability on me?"
"An ability that makes people lose their will to fight or their hostility?" He analyzed aloud.
"Interesting." As if amused by the man's ability, he smiled.
"Go on." He gave a slight nod, signaling the man to continue.
"My catchphrase is: no free information." The man's smile was full of cunning and shrewdness.
"Tell me what you want to know, and I'll quote a price based on the importance of the info." His tone was polite and courteous.
"Which airship do I take for the Hunter Exam?" Su Wu asked in a flat voice.
"..." The man's expression was full of subtlety, as if he wanted to speak but held back.
"Ah, that's the only thing you want to ask?" His tone carried a faint regret.
The white-haired, blue-eyed youth nodded matter-of-factly.
"The Hunter Association's airships don't park with regular ones, and they have exclusive flight paths."
"That's common knowledge for any Hunter or anyone with a bit of status, so I won't charge you for this." The man sighed, lamenting the loss of a customer.
So the reason he hadn't found his target was because of the privileges the Hunter Association held...
Su Wu thought coldly, his expression indifferent.
