After taking the magic book titled Eye of Analysis from the shelf, Shinji hurriedly flipped through it.
A moment later, he realized that the Eye of Analysis wasn't an ocular technique, but a type of magic.
It was simply a spell that involved the eyes, a human organ.
"Oh, right!"
Shinji's mind opened up to a new possibility.
Searching for ocular techniques in a world of magic clearly wasn't the right approach, but he could try collecting spells that involved the eyes.
Sure enough, after he explained what he was looking for, several mages worked together to compile more than a dozen spells involving the eyes.
Most of them were of little use to Shinji. Some made the eyes glow to light up dark places, some let the user cast lightning magic through their eyes, and others could hypnotize people.
But one or two of them offered some intriguing applications.
One example was a black magic spell called the Curse Death Technique. It let the caster channel magic into their eyes, then kill a target directly with a gaze.
Another eye-related magic was the supreme secret of the Six Rings World: the Magic Ring.
As Shinji understood it, the Magic Ring was a massive magic circle, or rather, an enormous composite spell formation.
Mages—or, more precisely, Archmages—used magic to permanently inscribe this complex formation onto their bodies, creating a Magic Ring they could activate at will. This was what set Archmages apart from other mages.
The world was called the Six Rings World because it had six Archmages capable of creating Magic Rings.
One of the six Archmages had inscribed her Magic Ring through her eyes.
"If I can master magic, maybe I can create a Magic Ring too and become an Archmage!"
At the thought, Shinji couldn't help smiling.
