Shinji nodded and said casually, "At the heart of the Contaminated Zone is a meteor crater about seven or eight meters across. In the center lies a meteorite glowing a faint green. I suspect it's the source of the contamination!"
Alice asked tentatively, "So you destroyed it?"
Shinji shrugged. "What else?"
Alice and "Arcane" exchanged another glance, both seeing horror in each other's eyes.
There was no doubt that the meteorite serving as the source of the contamination was the Plague Overlord's creation, a symbol of the Plague Overlord's power.
Ordinary people would have struggled even to approach it, let alone destroy it. They simply couldn't imagine how Shinji had managed it!
When the high-ranking mages heard that Shinji had destroyed the source of the contamination at the heart of the forbidden zone, they all exchanged stunned looks.
The fact that Shinji had made it out of the Contaminated Zone alive was already unbelievable to them. As for cleansing its source, after learning how terrifying the forbidden zone was, the thought had never even crossed their minds. They had never imagined anyone could do it!
Shinji, however, showed no hint of pride.
The process of cleansing the source of the contamination hadn't gone smoothly.
When Shinji first struck the meteorite with a Truth-Seeking Orb, he destroyed a third of its mass. He had assumed two more would finish the job, but in the end, it took seven Truth-Seeking Orbs to destroy it—barely.
The farther along he got, the more durable the meteorite became. When only a small piece remained, Shinji had to use two Truth-Seeking Orbs in succession to erase it.
That made him realize just how terrifying the Plague Overlord was. So when he saw the suspicion in everyone's eyes, his expression remained grave.
