"Just as I thought."
Shinji had guessed right, but instead of feeling pleased, he was somewhat dispirited.
Thinking back to how the Black Robe Leader of the World Destruction Society had worshiped this Overlord with the devotion of a believer worshiping the Gods, only for the Overlord to abandon him and then turn around and devour his world, Shinji found it deeply ironic.
The Black Robe Leader, whom Shinji had brought along as a "coordinate," was dumbstruck by the sight. He murmured, "Why did this happen?"
"What did you think an Overlord was?"
Shinji seemed to be speaking to the Black Robe Leader, yet at the same time, he sounded as though he were talking to himself, silently reminding himself never to underestimate an Overlord's greed.
"I regret it!"
The Black Robe Leader was weeping bitterly.
Only now did this treacherous schemer finally reveal his true feelings.
"Hm?"
Just then, Shinji let out a soft exclamation.
He suddenly sensed that the Overlord was corrupting this world at an unusual speed. Normally, when an Overlord first began its corruption, the world within the protection of its spatial barrier wouldn't show any strange signs. It would take at least three to five years before the first signs of doomsday gradually appeared.
Yet the sky over the Black Robe Leader's world was dark, and thunder rumbled overhead, giving it the feel of a doomsday storm about to break.
Based on Shinji's experience, this didn't look like a world that had only just begun to be corrupted. It looked like a world that had been corrupted for at least three years.
Thinking of this, Shinji glanced at the Black Robe Leader beside him and asked, baffled, "It's already targeting your world, and you're still working for it?"
"What?"
The Black Robe Leader looked confused.
