The Research Institute—or rather, Amado—had long been secretly investigating Fuma Ichiro. He also wanted to use Fuma Ichiro as bait to draw out certain ambitious individuals hiding within the Institute. Orochimaru was his primary suspect.
That was also why he had asked Shinji to wait a few more days before sacrificing Fuma Ichiro.
Although Fuma Ichiro seemed a little off, he had never let anything slip in his daily life. Amado still hadn't caught him in the act. So if this investigation turned up nothing again, he would have no choice but to hand Fuma Ichiro over to Shinji.
A short while later, Ada and Daemon arrived at Amado's office.
Amado explained the reason to Ada, then asked, "We have to figure out what they did in the passageway, so I'm counting on you!"
"I'll take a look!"
Ada nodded, then activated her 'Telescopic Eye.'
In an instant, her eyes shone with a dazzling light, as if they could see through everything in the world.
But as Amado waited for the results, he noticed Ada's brows suddenly knit together. His heart sank.
Sure enough, Ada shook her head. "I didn't see anything!"
Amado wasn't the only one startled. Delta and Daemon were, too, and all three turned to look at Ada.
Amado asked outright, "What happened?"
Ada explained, "Based on the time and place you gave me, I couldn't see anything useful. Everything there was a blur!"
Amado's expression grew grave.
He understood all too well: a blur was far more frightening than seeing something, because it meant either Orochimaru or Fuma Ichiro had the ability to interfere with Ada's 'Telescopic Eye.' It was simply inconceivable!
"If they can block you from looking, at least one of them must have awakened a shinjutsu. Heh, now this is getting interesting!"
