When Shinji declared war on the Overlords, all the Lantern Bearers present felt an inexplicable surge of excitement.
Across the vast stretches of time that spanned hundreds of thousands of years or more, the Overlords had always occupied the very top of the food chain. They were beings beyond imagination, beyond scrutiny, and beyond challenge. Shinji's declaration might well have been the first time any civilization in the universe had formally declared war on an Overlord!
Shinji gently lowered both hands, and the commotion in the conference room quickly died down.
Once the room had quieted, Shinji spoke. "There's no need for me to repeat how dangerous the Overlords are. This battle will be extremely dangerous, so you must all prepare yourselves!"
Alice, the Radiant One, stood up. "Captain, those who stayed behind are already prepared for the worst!"
Greedy Wolf Hengo chimed in. "That's right. Our opponent is an Overlord. We're not expecting to come out of this unscathed!"
The other Lantern Bearers nodded in agreement.
There were fewer Lantern Bearers in the conference room than there had been the last time Shinji visited. Some of them had probably decided against taking the risk and left early. Those who had stayed, without a doubt, were prepared for the worst.
"Good!" After a brief pause, Shinji instructed Alice, the Radiant One, "Tell us your plan."
Alice walked over to the display. "The situation in the Six Rings World has continued to deteriorate, so the plans we drew up earlier all have significant flaws now. We've hastily come up with a new one."
As she spoke, Alice looked at Shinji.
Shinji gave a slight nod, indicating that she should continue.
