The curve of Sasuke's lips grew wider.
Hunting down Upper Moon Two and fighting the Fourth Raikage had given him a great deal of confidence. He felt that taking on a Jonin like Kakashi should be a piece of cake.
Besides, after going all out, he could clearly tell that Kakashi was nowhere near as fast or as strong as the Fourth Raikage. That only made him more confident.
As for Kakashi—
At first, he'd only wanted to test Sasuke and confirm that the Sasuke in the village was the real one. After all, Itachi Uchiha had used Shadow Clones for things like this back in the day.
It was said that for an entire half-semester, the one attending the Ninja Academy had been nothing but one of Itachi Uchiha's Shadow Clones. The entire student body and faculty had been fooled. If Itachi hadn't accidentally gotten caught up in a vicious brawl that exposed his Shadow Clone, no one would have known by the end of the semester that the Itachi who'd attended classes and studied with them every day was only a clone.
But as they fought, Sasuke had awakened Kakashi's competitive spirit, too.
Or rather, Kakashi had gradually begun to realize that indulging Sasuke wouldn't truly guide him onto the right path. It would only make Sasuke more and more arrogant. So he was going to use this opportunity to teach Sasuke what it took to become a real ninja!
"Then let's see what else the Ninja Academy taught you besides what I taught you!"
