Power Within, Once Again

"What the hell is that—"

The soldier walking at the front was startled and instinctively tried to shout, but the person beside him covered his mouth the next second.

Looking up, he saw Tami. He had moved remarkably fast.

Looking toward the monster again, the bizarre creature had made no movement at all. It seemed not to have noticed their voices.

Tami had done the right thing. They still did not know what this monster was capable of. Who knew what consequences might come from alerting it recklessly? What if it self-destructed?

Luluwo gestured to the group, and everyone slowly backed away from the monster.

Crack!

Someone accidentally stepped on a rotten plank, and a clear snapping sound rang through the darkness.

Everyone hurriedly looked toward the monster. It did not react at all.

If not for the swollen thing that was presumably its body continuing to pulse and contract, someone might have classified it as an inanimate object.

"Has anyone seen something like this before?" Luluwo asked in a lowered voice, glancing at the monster.

The group exchanged looks, then shook their heads in unison.

"Then let's call that thing a squid for now."

The monsters they had seen in Blighttown earlier were no more than three kinds: fatties, skinny ones, and Fire-Breathing Dogs—all nicknames Luluwo had come up with.

Those monsters were not exactly easy on the eyes either, but compared to this "squid," they looked downright handsome. They had proper noses, proper mouths—far too normal.

And based on the usual nature of monsters in Sain Underground City, a deep question arose in her heart:

Could this squid be transformed from a human too?

No. There was no way someone could mutate into something like that, right?

But then she remembered this was Sain Underground City, and suddenly,
