After a simple lunch in a village near the mission site, the two of them and one wolf left the village and headed for the Corrosive Frogs' habitat.
"Corrosive Frogs... I haven't encountered them before." Alya flipped through the monster manual as they walked, her voice tinged with curiosity. "According to the book, their spit can corrode metal."
"No wonder the bounty is one silver and thirty copper per kill," Gauss replied. "I guess a lot of Warriors aren't keen on taking this kind of job."
For a low-level monster, that was already a fairly high bounty.
In their last mission, for example, the Ratmen had been worth only one silver coin apiece.
Missions that were difficult or unpopular often had higher bounties.
For melee fighters who relied on metal armor and weapons, monsters that accelerated wear and tear on their equipment were a nightmare.
They would work hard to earn their commission, only to pour it straight into repair fees at the Blacksmith Shop. It simply wasn't worth it.
But that wasn't much of a problem for Gauss and Alya.
Gauss had a variety of ranged attacks, while Alya excelled at crowd control and support.
More importantly, neither of them relied on metal armor for their main defense. They depended more on Gauss's force-field protection, so their equipment wouldn't take any wear and tear.
Before they had even set out, Gauss had cast [Gauss Field], an upgraded version of Mage Armor, on himself and Alya.
Without taking any damage, Gauss Field could last about six hours.
That was more than enough time to prepare for most battles.
So Gauss made a habit of putting up his shields in a safe area before a fight.
Then he used the effects of [Energy Gland] to restore the mana he had spent.
