A piercing bird cry rang out from the sky.
Gauss looked up at the tiny black speck in the sky.
Raven Ike and his crow underlings were warning them that monsters had appeared nearby.
"Teacher Gauss?"
Noticing that Gauss had stopped explaining, Abby, who had been listening intently, looked at him curiously.
"Nothing."
Out of the corner of his eye, Gauss glanced toward the road ahead. Several Slime Slimes bounced out of the weeds and brazenly appeared in the middle of the road.
However, before they could make any further move,
several black spikes pierced through their murky liquid bodies.
"Pfft!!"
As their cores shattered, a kill notification flashed before Gauss's eyes.
"Slime Slime x4 killed"
"Let's continue."
Gauss turned his attention back and continued explaining the cantrip Ray of Frost to Abby alongside its magical principles.
Abby was learning her second cantrip after Light, Ray of Frost.
There was something ironic about it. Although Abby had developed a yearning for Fireball because of Gauss, and had consequently come to love the fire-element cantrip Fire Bolt as well, she was actually more skilled at the Cold Element spell Ray of Frost than Fire Bolt.
The skill book Gauss had specifically purchased in Fisherman's Song Town had thus come in handy.
Based on his analysis, one possibility was that everyone's body possessed different innate affinities for different elements. Another possibility was that it had something to do with Witch Megan's bodily modifications.
Perhaps compared to blazing fire magic, Abby was better suited to ice-cold magic.
The discovery left Abby somewhat disappointed, but Gauss comforted her.
Non-fire magic also contained many powerful spells.
Besides, she was merely more suited to Cold Element spells. That did not mean she was completely incapable of learning fire magic.
