Gauss hadn't been to the Adventurer's Guild hall in quite some time.
He'd left the Red Dragon Group's staff to handle the pickup and submission of minor commissions for him.
When commissions were taken on behalf of an adventuring group, there was no need for the leader to show up in person to submit them. This had saved him plenty of time for private magic practice.
From where he stood now, some of the people loitering around the hall were clearly staff from various adventuring groups.
They wore light, casual clothes, their eyes moving between the notice boards and the people around them.
The Adventurer's Guild hall was as lively as ever today.
"We've killed enough goblins! It's time to take on something more challenging!"
"Derek, if you want to risk your neck, count me out."
"What about the poison spore commission?"
"Our party doesn't have an Archer specializing in that sort of thing. Let's see what else there is."
"..."
Gauss watched the young men and women gathered in small groups around the hall, studying the commissions, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
"Let's go, Shadow."
After pausing for a moment, he and Shadow headed deeper into the hall.
The South District Guild in Falim had an unusual layout. It had only one floor, but its area was enormous, much like the convention centers and civic centers of Gauss's previous life.
The farther in you went, the more difficult the available commissions became. The place was laid out in concentric rings.
"Derek, what's wrong?"
"Nothing. I just thought the person standing at the entrance looked unusual."
"Quit daydreaming and keep looking at the commissions. We're short on time."
"Right."
The farther in they went, the higher the adventurers' levels became.
