The Timbel Maze
Late at night, Gauss sat before the campfire, tallying the past two days' gains.
He had come to hunt centaurs, but that wasn't all he'd been doing. In fact, he had killed far more other monsters than centaurs.
"Monster Kill Count: 36,315"
He had hunted nearly a thousand monsters in two days, including 180 centaurs. As a result, he had successfully advanced his Centaur Hunter title to Centaur Slayer.
However, he still had a way to go before reaching the next stage, Centaur Butcher, which required a thousand kills.
"That's enough for now."
The Centaur Slayer title currently had two effects.
The first was paralysis. The nerves inside a centaur facing him had a chance of misfiring, causing paralysis or slowed movement.
The second was armor penetration. His attacks could pierce a centaur's tough hide or armor more easily.
Since he was unlikely to advance the Centaur Slayer title to the next level anytime soon, Gauss decided to call an end to his two days of monster hunting.
It was also one of his habits. Out of caution, when he went out alone, he rarely stayed in one place for long.
That helped minimize the risk of an accident. After all, the longer he stayed somewhere, the more likely it was that others would learn he was active nearby.
Once he had made up his mind, he mounted Hefis at dawn the next day and left the Long Wind Prairie.
When he returned to the Red Dragon Group's headquarters, he had just finished bathing and stepped out of the bathroom when the butler came over to tell him that the others were looking for him.
Gauss knew that, given Alya and the others' personalities, they wouldn't seek him out just as he returned to the estate to
