Next, he repeated the previous process and completed the modification of the Horned Rabbit. Like the Demon Wolf, the Horned Rabbit's modification still used its own Bloodline Factor, a wind-attribute Bloodline Factor, and a catalyst.
The former would make the Horned Rabbit sturdier, while the latter came from the Demon Wolf and gave it a certain chance of awakening wind-attribute spells. Even if it had poor luck and failed to awaken anything, future Magic Pattern Inscription modifications would go more smoothly.
Magic Pattern Inscription had originally come from wizards engraving the spell patterns of Demonic Beasts onto objects to make casting spells more convenient. Over time, it had developed into engraving magically patterned spells directly onto the body, allowing the user to possess the ability to cast the corresponding spells themselves.
After so many years of development, Magic Pattern Inscription technology had grown increasingly mature. The spells engraved also possessed the ability to grow, and thus there was now a niche school of wizards who inscribed Magic Patterns onto themselves, allowing them to instantly cast more spells and giving them relatively strong combat power.
However, such wizards were rare. Most still inscribed them onto the Demonic Beasts they raised, making it one of the important branches of Biological Modification.
In truth, Magic Pattern Inscription occupied half the realm of Biological Modification sorcery. Most Biological Modifications would ultimately return to this path.
But there was no helping it—Bloodline Factors had lofty aspirations and enormous potential, after all.
Thus, there were naturally more wizards researching Bloodline Factors, and with more wizards came more related literature.
Although Magic Pattern Inscription had also developed considerably, most of that progress was purely technical. Among a wizard community made up largely of research scholars, its voice naturally became somewhat quieter.
Given this situation, Isaac naturally would not choose to study only one. The greed of an adult made him choose to have it all!
After all, he had cheats~
Thus, in the Horned Rabbit's plan, Isaac had prudently added a wind-attribute Bloodline Factor. Even if its awakening failed, wouldn't it make future inscription more convenient?
Once the Horned Rabbit had been dealt with, Hamon tirelessly carried the enormous Demonized Wild Boar onto the Operating Table.
The modification of the Demonized Wild Boar differed somewhat from that of the previous two first-rank Demonic Beasts. Though it still used three Bloodline Factors, aside from the third, the other two were both earth-attribute Bloodline Factors. It did not use the Demonized Wild Boar's own Bloodline Factor.
After all, it was merely an unranked Demonic Beast. How strong could its Bloodline Factor possibly be?
Besides the Bloodline Factors, Isaac also replaced the Demonized Wild Boar's heart with the heart of a first-rank Demonic Beast, the Rockhide Boar.
Once everything was complete, Isaac did not have Hamon carry the boar back. Instead, he took a step back and carefully observed its condition.
As the newly replaced heart gradually fused completely with it under the influence of the Magic Spell, abundant ochre magic power poured out from the heart. It swiftly filled the boar's entire body, and the moment such a "massive" quantity of magic power entered it, it began drastically transforming the boar's body.
And during this process, Isaac was surprised to discover that the fusion of the Bloodline Factors had actually begun accelerating under the influence of that magic power!
Though it was rather slow, it was indeed accelerating...
Looking at the boar on the Operating Table, Isaac narrowed his eyes slightly. He had not expected an unexpected gain~
But exactly which part had produced this effect would require further observation.
This situation had not been mentioned in Eldest Sister's collection of books. Perhaps it had not been discovered, or perhaps Eldest Sister simply did not have that portion of the Spellbooks.
However, Isaac leaned more toward the former, because techniques such as replacing hearts and replacing blood had long been obsolete. At present, only a small number of poor Legendary Wizards still used them.
Like Isaac~
So it was perfectly normal that those Arcanist lords had failed to discover this.
Still, Isaac did not linger on it for too long. Though this was indeed interesting, with a great enemy before them, he could still distinguish what was urgent from what was not. He only needed to record it in his notebook and save it for future research.
As for now, there were more important matters~
After collecting the data, Hamon carried the enormous Demonized Wild Boar into an iron cage and locked it up. Then one man and one claw arrived at another testing ground. Five iron cages stood in the middle of the area, holding a Demon Wolf, a Horned Rabbit, a Wild Spirit Deer, a Demonized Wild Boar, and the Demonic Rat with its replaced heart.
The five Demonic Beasts had not fallen unconscious as they had during surgery. Not only were they awake, they were full of vigor and in excellent condition!
For instance, the most ferocious among them, the Demon Wolf, was currently baring its fangs at Isaac.
"Hiss!!"
Hamon suddenly flew before the Demon Wolf's cage. Its palm split open, revealing two hundred neat, gleaming saw teeth!
Baring fangs? Who couldn't do that!
Isaac helplessly patted Hamon and called it back. This experiment was not a contest of who could bare their fangs better.
Hamon closed the fissure in its palm and flew back behind Isaac's head. Its fingers pointed straight toward the sky, its five digits spread wide. A stream of magic power flowed from Isaac into Hamon's body, after which it channeled all of that amplified magic power into the Demonic Beasts within the five iron cages.
Innate Sorcery · Flesh Conversion!
That was right. What Isaac intended to test this time was the concept he had long held regarding his own Innate Sorcery.
Since the effect of Flesh Conversion was to transform Demonized Flesh into living organisms under his control for battle, it was clearly a summoning spell.
But in Isaac's view, this sorcery had another direction for development—using it on living creatures!
If this sorcery could affect living Demonic Beasts, or rather, creatures that possessed magic power, then its combat value would soar even further!
Unfortunately, he had previously conducted several experiments, all of which had ended in failure.
This was now Isaac's seventh attempt, as well as the seventh version of Innate Sorcery · Flesh Conversion.
Unfortunately, three minutes passed, and not a single one of the five Demonic Beasts changed. It had failed...
Isaac's brows drew tightly together. Failure itself was not frightening. Experiments routinely failed.
But failure without gaining anything at all—that was frightening...
Could this path be impossible?
Isaac shook his head with a slight frown. Not necessarily. Some conditions probably had yet to be met. It required further research...
Fortunately, although this experiment still yielded nothing, this week of study had allowed Isaac to find a direction for improving it: starting with Bloodline Factors!
From this angle, Isaac had quite a few ideas. After all, genetic mutations had not been uncommon in his previous life. Though he had never properly studied the relevant material, he understood a thing or two. Copying a cat to draw a tiger would not be difficult.
And as long as the tiger he drew produced results, everything else would be easy to handle. After all, all things are difficult before they are begun~
After interrupting the spell, Hamon was responsible for tidying the laboratory, while Isaac went to prepare Hamon's strengthening ritual. The things he had purchased from the Truth Association had finally arrived.
In fact, the items had arrived three days ago, but Isaac had been immersed in studying Bloodline Factors at the time, so the matter had been delayed.
