Ch. 162Clothes Need Mending

  • Uchiha Chi returned home, found Yakushi Nonō sprawled on the sofa, and later discovered her wedged between the sofa and the wall.
  • Uchiha Chi gave Yakushi Nonō a glass of ice water and used Mystical Palm Technique to examine and soothe her injuries.
  • Yakushi Nonō told Uchiha Chi that her accumulated chronic injuries had kept her from Root missions and led Danzo to send her back to care for children at the Orphanage.
  • Uchiha Chi silently listened as he healed Yakushi Nonō, then looked at her and said, “Awesome.”

Ch. 163Turns Out It Was Shocked Stiff

Uchiha Chi treated Yakushi Nonō’s hidden injuries and reassured her that she could continue directing the orphanage while working for him. He then went with her to inspect Aburame Torune, only to discover that Nonō had connected him to an electric wire to keep him from escaping.

  • Uchiha Chi used healing Chakra to treat Nonō’s accumulated injuries and told her they would take months to heal.
  • Nonō explained that she had visited the orphanage in disguise because she feared the children would recognize her.
  • Uchiha Chi told Nonō she could remain the orphanage’s director and visit the children whenever she wished.
  • Uchiha Chi and Nonō went to the utility room, where they found Torune groaning in a wheelchair.
  • Nonō removed the wire connected to Torune and explained that she had used it to stop him from escaping.

Ch. 164People Are Creatures of Meaning

Uchiha Chi let Aburame Torune believe that his resistance and information had no value, leaving the Root prisoner emotionally broken. After Chi left him alone with Yakushi Nonō, she recognized that he had cornered Torune into giving up or yielding.

  • Yakushi Nonō revived Aburame Torune with an electric shock, and Torune begged to talk so she would stop torturing him.
  • Uchiha Chi told Torune he did not need Root's secrets because Nonō had already revealed what she knew.
  • Chi asked whether Danzo would grieve if Torune died, and Torune realized his leader would treat him as a useless tool.
  • Chi left the storeroom without reassuring Torune, who was left alone with Nonō and sank into despair.
  • Nonō joined Chi beneath a tree and concluded that he had made Torune lose his sense of purpose, leaving him likely to give up or yield.
