Zhenyuanzi's expression remained unchanged as he calmly said:
"The Heavenly Marriage matters because it symbolizes the harmony of yin and yang and helps establish the proper order of relationships.
"The specific people involved should be chosen naturally, in accordance with their hearts.
"As far as I know, the two star lords Chang Xi and Xi He share the same origin, but their temperaments and paths differ.
"Ultimately, this matter must be discussed between the Heavenly Emperor and the two star lords themselves, in keeping with their true feelings and Destined Affinity.
"Heavenly will may set the direction, but people's feelings must also be taken into consideration.
"As long as the union ultimately embodies the symbolism of the 'Heavenly Emperor' and the 'Great Yin Star Lord' and earns the Heavenly Dao's approval, then it is acceptable."
He had not named anyone in particular, leaving the choice to those involved. This, in turn, seemed fairer and more reasonable.
Di Jun nodded slightly, feeling somewhat reassured.
He did, in fact, favor one of them. If he were forced to choose the other, it might breed resentment.
Then he thought of something else. He looked at Nuwa, who sat beside Zhenyuanzi, listening quietly with an air of sacred purity, and asked in confusion:
"Earlier, Senior mentioned that this matter concerned Fellow Daoist Nuwa's opportunity to attain the Dao. May I ask what you meant?"
Nuwa opened her half-lidded eyes. Her clear gaze turned to Di Jun, and her voice rang out, clear and bright:
"Allow me to explain, Heavenly Emperor.
"My Dao lies in 'creation,' 'bringing life into being,' 'the propagation of life,' and 'the establishment of order.'
"The act of Heavenly Marriage is the perfect practice and final completion of the Dao of 'yin-yang harmony and procreation' and 'the establishment of ethical order.'
