In the dim basement, the gleam of weapons illuminated every corner.
Zhao Xing'er must have had a Storage Magic Artifact on her. Otherwise, it was hard to explain how she'd been carrying a Three-Pointed Double-Edged Halberd over six feet long.
Storage Magic Artifacts were generally issued only to disciples of the Immortal Gate or elite members of the Supervision Bureau. It wasn't a question of whether ordinary cultivators could afford one. They needed to have enough treasures worth carrying around to need an artifact to store them in the first place.
For all that random junk, a backpack was enough.
Zhao Xing'er's Three-Pointed Double-Edged Halberd was no ordinary weapon, either. Its edge gleamed coldly, and it was clearly of exceptional quality. Empowered by her Martial Spirit Red Light, each swing carved out a broad crescent of red light, forcing Vest Tiger and Golden Refined Tiger back.
If either tiger had been even a fraction slower, it would've hit that crimson edge and ended up missing an ear or its tail!
Tiger demons prided themselves on bodies harder than iron and stone, but the moment they faced the Three-Pointed Double-Edged Halberd, both of them faltered.
Meanwhile, Earphone Tiger charged Yue Wen. Yue Wen simply let go, hurling the Flying Sword in his right hand.
Sword Control Art!
The Flying Sword turned into a streak of cold light in an instant. Earphone Tiger flipped and landed, but still couldn't dodge in time. Its left claw clanged against the sword's side, sending a trail of scalding blood into the air.
Hiss—
The first ferocious charge of the three tiger demons had been stopped so easily by two young people!
Yue Wen had meant to hold them off himself while Zhao Xing'er found a chance to call for help. He hadn't expected her to charge into the front line like a warrior while he ended up playing the mage in the back.
He reacted quickly, pulling out his phone. He knew someone at the Supervision Bureau in City Seven, so he found the number and called at once.
Roar—
Suit Tiger, who'd been sitting at the rear, seemed to have been watching out for exactly this. The moment it saw Yue Wen making a call, it let out a roar that shook heaven and earth.
Its roar was even more powerful than the three tigers' earlier collective howl.
The basement was extremely well soundproofed. In addition to its sturdy construction, all sorts of formations had been applied to keep the commotion and aura inside from alerting anyone to the tiger demons.
But Suit Tiger's roar made both the ground above and the basement below shudder three times over!
The building shook. The Tiger Head Gang members panicked and looked at one another. "What's happening?"
Just then, Big Fella Six came running down from upstairs. After closing the basement door, he'd guessed that whoever won between the two young people and Brother Hu would be fighting for a while.
Since he had to run either way, he might as well grab whatever he could before leaving!
So he'd gone upstairs and ransacked the Tiger Head Gang's money stash.
Now he had a large duffel bag full of cash slung over his left shoulder, a jewelry case stuffed with expensive accessories hanging from his right arm, the keys to a luxury car and a dozen incredibly valuable ugly plush dolls hooked onto his belt, and two sister-in-laws in fiery red lipstick and miniskirts slung over his back...
He was fully prepared to make his escape.
He'd been worried that people would notice him and make it hard to leave. Then the ground began to shake, so he ran and yelled, "Earthquake! Run! Earthquake! Run!"
"An earthquake?"
His shouts sent the headquarters into even greater chaos.
But a few people kept their heads and looked toward the basement. "Brother Hu's still in there! What do we do? Should we go save him?"
"What's Brother Hu's strength, and what's yours?" Big Fella Six shouted. "Does Brother Hu need you to save him?"
"That's true."
And so the Tiger Head Gang members scattered from the building like birds and beasts.
With Suit Tiger's roar, the battle in the basement intensified once more.
The roar made Yue Wen shudder all over. His hand shook as he dialed, and he nearly dropped the phone. Fortunately, his soul was strong enough to withstand the loudest wave of sound, and he managed to tap the screen.
There was no time to speak after that. He didn't even know if the other person had answered; he simply stuffed the phone back into his pocket.
The next second, a gust of black wind rushed toward him!
It was the Black Tiger that had been crouching in the corner. It looked like the biggest of them all, but that was because it had stayed in beast form. Compared to the other tiger demons, it was probably the youngest and weakest, which was why it hadn't transformed into human form.
But this Little Black Tiger was also the most vicious. In the blink of an eye, it sprang from the distant corner, a black whirlwind snapping at him.
Yue Wen reacted swiftly, raising two fingers on his right hand to summon the Flying Sword back. It stabbed toward the Black Tiger from behind.
Roar— The Black Tiger whipped its tail to dodge the sword, then lashed its thick tail toward Yue Wen.
Judging by its momentum, getting hit by that tail would mean broken bones at best!
Yue Wen shifted his stance and spun, barely dodging it. The sword light swept back, instinctively slicing off the end of the tiger's tail.
But Earphone Tiger was also leaping at him from the other side, its claws hooked like ten steel blades, slashing down viciously!
Yue Wen had no choice but to change direction. His sword flashed sideways to block the tiger's claws. Sparks flew with a series of metallic clangs, and Earphone Tiger's claws were cut again.
Suit Tiger abruptly stood up. "Outsiders are bound to come here today! Kill them quickly, then get out of here!"
The two uninvited guests had inexplicably barged into the lair they'd occupied for years. Now it would all have to be set up again. Fury surged in its eyes as it sprang into the air!
Riiip! Its black clothes tore apart.
The suit covering its upper body burst open, revealing terrifying muscles!
Thunder Tiger Shocks Heaven Fist!
With its clothes blown apart, it swung its right fist in midair. A brilliant streak of white light suddenly shot out, trailing a long tail of light as it slammed toward Zhao Xing'er!
Zhao Xing'er was swinging her Three-Pointed Double-Edged Halberd, using her martial skill and powerful red light to keep two tiger demons on the defensive. Hearing the rush of air suddenly bear down on her, she had just enough time to raise her weapon and block.
Boom!
The blow landed on the shaft of the halberd and unleashed its full force, sending Zhao Xing'er flying hard into the wall behind her.
She'd cosplayed as a mural, too.
Yue Wen saw this and frowned.
This tiger demon had not only the strongest body and innate abilities, but had also practiced a martial cultivation method! Its combat strength was far beyond Ten Thousand Grandma Level!
Demons were naturally slow-witted, and their kind was different from the Human Race. It was very difficult for them to understand a Visualization Diagram. Never mind divine abilities and secret arts—even the simplest martial Cultivation Method was extremely difficult for them to master.
But once they succeeded, their naturally exceptional physiques made all the difference.
Zhao Xing'er had held her own against two tiger demons, but this one punch had broken through her defenses!
Seeing Suit Tiger turn its attention toward him, Yue Wen realized he was about to be surrounded and beaten by all five tigers. He knew things were bad. He swung his sword to create some distance, then quickly retreated several steps.
The tiger demons thought he was trying to run and immediately surrounded him, cutting off his escape.
Just as all the tiger demons focused on him, Yue Wen suddenly raised a hand and cried, "Look at my sword!"
All five tiger demons fixed their eyes on him, but what they saw wasn't a sword. It was an incredibly dazzling ball of white light!
In an instant, it was as if a sun had erupted inside the basement!
Flash Art!
He'd already closed his eyes beforehand, so the light hadn't blinded him. When he opened them again, he found all five tiger demons in complete disarray!
Everything was white!
The sudden loss of sight had a devastating effect. By the time they used scent and aura to locate Yue Wen again, they could already smell the pungent stench of blood.
He'd used Sword Control Art and Flash Art at the same time. The sword light swept through the air like a nimble dragon, slicing the throats of Vest Tiger and Golden Refined Tiger. Scalding tiger blood gushed out like fountains, the sheets of blood striking to behold!
Yue Wen hadn't targeted the strongest, Suit Tiger. He worried that even with the surprise attack and the Flash Art, his sword might not be enough to kill it.
By striking as quickly as possible, he had eliminated two of their fighters. It was the safest option.
Golden light entered his body. He knew he was sure to gain a big haul of Demon Suppressing Coins this time, but now wasn't the moment to celebrate.
Making money was no good if you didn't live to spend it!
Watching two of their brothers die before their eyes, the three remaining tiger demons glared with bloodshot eyes and let out roars of grief and fury.
Roar!
Vile humans! What a shameless trick!
Yue Wen looked cautious as he quickly put some distance between himself and the demons.
He didn't relax just because he'd killed two tiger demons. Before, there had been five tigers at full strength. Now there were three enraged ones. The situation might be even more dangerous!
Just then, a red light on the wall behind the tiger demons grew brighter and brighter.
Zhao Xing'er floated in the air, wrapped in crimson light, her face filled with anger. She shouted, "Who's messing around with Flash Art? You blinded me—!"
From her state, it was clear she had once again lost control of her Martial Spirit Red Light. Her anger was overflowing, and she recognized no one.
So Yue Wen immediately pointed at the three tiger demons in front of him and shouted, "Those three!"
