The moment the show entered its intermission, quite a few audience members sprang from their seats and rushed toward the stage, as though they were afraid they would miss out on registration if they were even a second late.

Their enthusiasm spurred even more people into wanting to try. Chen Xuan casually counted and found no fewer than thirty or forty spectators gathered around the edge of the stage.

Did that many people really have abilities?

No... most of them were probably here just to get on camera. This was not some serious assessment, after all. There was no real loss if they failed, and some of the audience members were probably planted by the TV station to liven up the atmosphere.

Besides, even if they had no abilities at all, they would not necessarily be eliminated right away.

That was obvious from the challenge scenarios set up by the production team. There were five in total: a balance-beam gauntlet to test physical coordination; mannequin destruction to assess an ability's offensive power; indoor hide-and-seek to test tracking and hiding abilities; machine dodgeball to test dynamic reactions; and a live arena match against bodyguards hired by Jiang Wenbin. The difficulty rose from low to high, with a perfect score of one hundred.

To be fair, these challenges did suit the atmosphere of a variety show. Even an ordinary person could go up there and compete alongside ability users. The problem was that using them to select protectors suited for ability-based combat was clearly rather unserious.

Still, Chen Xuan could understand... apart from the Dimensional Limit Organization, nobody else had any means of testing abilities. They could only display them through performances.
