"Hello, hello." Chen Xuan's father smiled until his eyes narrowed into slits. "Miss Lin, you aren't going home for the New Year? Does your family not mind?"
"I don't have a family... I grew up alone..." Lin Qing's eyes dimmed slightly. "Before I met Chen Xuan, I stayed in whatever city I was working in and spent the New Year by myself."
"Oh, look at what you're asking!" Chen Xuan's mother shot him a glare. "Sorry, dear. We brought up something painful."
"It's nothing. I'm used to it." She looked up and smiled at the two elders. "So I'm actually quite happy to come to Yuecheng with Chen Xuan and have some fun!"
Not bad... Chen Xuan thought in surprise. Maybe her acting wasn't professional-level, but the genuine emotion was certainly there.
And the backstory she had made up was honestly a little outrageous.
But in a sense, she really wasn't lying.
Besides, having no family background was the least troublesome explanation.
"Come on, come on. Let's go home first. We can talk in the car," Chen Xuan's mother called out.
Chen Xuan's home was about a forty-minute drive from the high-speed rail station. His father drove while his mother chatted, her mouth never stopping the entire way. Eight out of every ten sentences were about Lin Qing.
"You met Chen Xuan while working at a fast-food restaurant?"
"That's right! When I first started working, I didn't know anything. He taught me bit by bit and saved me from getting scolded a lot." Lin Qing nodded. "Later, our shifts often overlapped, and we gradually became friends."
"Oh, where did you live when you were in Jiangcheng?"
"At first, I lived in Sha River District. Later, I moved to Tianlu District and rented in the same residential complex as Chen Xuan."
