Demonkin were a lowly, mutated beastfolk race.
They usually looked no different from ordinary people, but when provoked, swept up in intense emotions, or thrown into battle, they became as wild and uncontrollable as beasts, letting their most primal impulses take over their minds.
This race could not reproduce naturally. It could only be created artificially: an alchemist skilled in dark alchemy would inject beast blood into a human body and use evil mystic arts to complete this seemingly fatal ritual.
After the Side Quest was triggered, the system gave this explanation of the term "Demonkin" and added:
[If you manage to survive at the hands of a Demonkin, you may include this information in a written report in your investigation notes submitted to the Ideal Nation.]
The system did not pursue Yu Xing's act of jumping the gun before it went off. That was only natural. As a distinguished "Reality Tier" player, Yu Xing enjoyed certain privileges.
Though that made the words "fair and impartial" in the mission briefing sound downright hellish.
The coachman before him had probably been infused with dog's blood. Just look at the arch of his back and the way he bared his teeth in warning...
"What are you?" The Demonkin panted uncontrollably, staring fearfully at the tentacles that had suddenly appeared.
Droplets of saliva dripped from between the coachman's lengthening fangs, wetting the ground. A trace of distaste surfaced in Yu Xing's eyes. He guessed that before the dog had been fused with a human, it must have been a vicious, aggressive mutt.
A good dog wouldn't look so... well, rabid.
But hunger outweighed disgust. Yu Xing had no intention of chatting with his food before a meal. Besides, the Demonkin "bestiary" provided by the system had already told him plenty.
