Night cloaked everything in darkness, soaking every brick and stone of Yorikof Town University.

The West Wing stood in the northwest corner of campus, an old, three-story building with peeling plaster that revealed dark red bricks beneath. Few people came here during the day, and at night it was terrifyingly quiet. Only the wind passed through the broken window frames, letting out a low, mournful wail.

Two figures quietly appeared at the entrance to the West Wing.

"Looks like there's no one else around," said a tall, thin man in a low voice. He warily glanced around. "We might as well try our luck here again tonight. Hopefully we'll catch that monster."

The young man behind him yawned and rubbed his sleepy eyes. "Brother Zhao, do we really have to come at this hour? We came to wait here after nine yesterday, and didn't see a soul. We almost ended up last on the rankings. Luckily, we killed a couple of little monsters on the way here and earned some points. Otherwise, this mission would've screwed us over."

The man known as Brother Zhao cleared his throat awkwardly. "I didn't know this school was so damn strange, either. Cang Nong, give me one more chance. I refuse to believe it! If we still can't find that monster, I'll start wondering if someone killed those three students and framed it."

Cang Nong looked to be in his early twenties, young by the standards of the deduction players. He had a head of messy black hair and eyes that always seemed to be smiling. He stretched and loosened up his muscles. "All right, all right. We're here now, so we might as well make the best of it. But honestly, I don't think it's worth spending all our time at this school."
