Yu Xing observed the Archbishop's expression. The confusion in those aged yet sharp eyes did not seem feigned.
He then simplified the clues provided by Lingren, omitting Lingren's name and the specific process of contact, stating only that a colleague had discovered the records in an old travelogue titled Traveler's Notes: Customs and Scenery of Thirty Nations, authored by Edgar White.
"...The travelogue mentions that after the night of the aurora, that astronomer kept muttering mad words like 'I saw it, and it saw me.' After returning to town, he grew increasingly deranged, and eventually lost contact with his friends. The timing was a little over thirty years ago," Yu Xing added.
A look of distinct astonishment appeared on the Archbishop's face. He pondered for a moment, then shook his head. "Traveler's Notes... Edgar White... I have some impression of this name. It seems he was a moderately well-known travel writer here many years ago, but his works... never entered the list of things the Church needed to pay special attention to. We never connected his travelogue to the Riel incident, either."
This was understandable, after all.
Although the Harvest Church was the actual ruler of Yorikof, it was not so idle as to meticulously read every single book published by the townspeople. At most, they would flip through two pages to confirm the contents matched the information on the publication application and that there were no violations before passing it.
Conversely, those taboo books that were not published openly and were instead printed and circulated in secret were purged by the Church the moment they showed any signs.
This travelogue had low sales. Whether thirty years ago or now, it belonged to an absolute niche, making it difficult for Church personnel to come into contact with it.
