Yu Xing set the music box beside the unconscious Susan, then turned his attention to the photograph.

It was a family portrait.

The photograph hadn't been carefully preserved, and cracks had begun to form across it. Five people stood in the picture: the Brown family.

It must have been taken a long time ago. None of the three children had grown up yet. Susan looked to be only ten, and even the eldest, Angel, seemed very young.

Yu Xing finally knew what Angel looked like.

Like Mrs. Brown and Susan, Angel was blonde. She stood beside her younger brother, Alex, smiling serenely.

But she had deliberately kept her distance from the rest of her family, as if she were resisting something.

Mrs. Brown had her arm through her husband's and wore a bright smile, but Yu Xing could tell she was gripping him very tightly, restraining Mr. Brown so he couldn't get away.

Alex stood close to his sister. Susan wore no expression.

"This photo only proves that Angel might also have inherited Mrs. Brown's mental illness. It also gives me a glimpse of the family's relationships, but it's not particularly useful to me." Yu Xing had no intention of taking the photograph with him, so he finally opened the diary.

Susan's handwriting was awful, like a dog had scrawled it.
