Chapter Twenty-One: Long Time No See

"Ultimately, you're proud of knowing that Old Brother Fang, so you keep making him out to be better than he is, just to make it seem enviable that you have a friend like him."

"But in reality, you're just an insignificant, self-important nobody. My dad has plenty of friends, and you don't rank very high among them." Yu Xing wasn't sure about that last part either, but he wanted to twist the knife. The noodle stand owner's way of talking had rubbed him the wrong way.

He was always generous with other people's compassion, forgiving on their behalf and lecturing on their behalf. He dismissed anything he didn't believe as "rumors," even though the things he believed in were just as baseless.

He'd gotten the information he wanted, so Yu Xing promptly did an about-face. He stood up, took a hundred-yuan bill from his pocket, and put it on the table. As the owner stared at him, dumbfounded, he gave a derisive laugh. "I don't need you to treat me to noodles. You've put me off so badly I can't eat."

After delivering that final threat, Yu Xing turned and left.
