A Sudden Change

Someone had been seen.

Yu Xing watched from the shadows, witnessing the cashier and the "self" at the guests' table lock eyes.

The woman at the register looked utterly shocked. The one at the table was no different. The woman there frantically tugged at the middle-aged man in a suit beside her, pointing at the register but unable to speak.

Something had gone wrong.

The group of deducers at the table all noticed the commotion. Yu Xing moved farther away, hiding himself in the darkness.

He could feel the other "Yu Xing" glance his way again, but he was well hidden and hadn't been spotted.

By comparison, the woman at the register was terribly unlucky.

She froze in shock. Even when the sheep-faced leader had scolded her, she hadn't broken down in front of those eight pairs of strange eyes. But now, her emotions suddenly burst through the floodgates, and she began to cry.

Yu Xing knew they were in trouble the moment he saw her cry.

As if it had eyes in the back of its head, the sheep-faced leader strode over the instant the woman shed her first tear and grabbed her by the collar.

"Why are you crying?" The sheep-faced leader leaned closer and closer until its protruding nose nearly touched hers.

Its dark sheep's eyes gleamed with both disgust and excitement as it yanked the woman.

The woman's legs, which had been rooted to the spot since Yu Xing first saw her, finally moved. The force of the yank sent her stumbling a couple of steps.

The instant she realized she was no longer where she'd been standing, she let out a bloodcurdling scream.

"Ah!!!!"

The piercing sound cut through everyone's ears. All the animal-faced guests stopped talking and turned toward the woman in perfect unison.
