The woman's voice had hardly been friendly to begin with, and in the empty little tower it seemed to echo faintly. Her eyes were fixed on them, utterly still.
They all felt a little tense.
They weren't nervous because they thought the woman might attack them. They were nervous because if River Witch turned out to be their enemy, all their earlier deductions would have to be thrown out. Master of Ten Thousand's birthday banquet was almost here. Having everything overturned at this point would be such a pain.
After a brief silence, Yu Xing smiled and pointed at the swaying bone chime. "That bell is quite pretty, and it sounds nice too. Did you make it?"
At that, the woman shifted her gaze slightly and glanced at the bell. "No. Granny collected it."

With that, she turned away again and continued up the stairs.
They had no choice but to follow the ill-tempered woman. Once they climbed the stairs, their vantage point was higher, and they could see the things hanging from the rafters more clearly.
Besides the sunny dolls and bone chimes, there were all sorts of woven knots, dreamcatchers, and wind chimes in other shapes. In the farthest corner, there was even a human skull.
