As if nothing had happened, Yu Xing stood up and gave River Witch a flawless smile. As he stepped outside, he even closed the door behind him.

The thin wooden door shut out River Witch's kind, compassionate gaze. When he turned around, he saw Aran standing not far away, arms crossed as she stared at her.

Yu Xing lowered his gaze and confirmed that Aran's shoes were ordinary dark-blue cloth shoes.

The girl still had that same cool, detached air. Standing still, she urged him impatiently, "You're the last one. Hurry up."

"Sure." Yu Xing replied and walked toward her. Once he reached her side, Aran turned and walked alongside him.

The corridor went only one way, so Yu Xing didn't need to ask where they were headed. He only had to keep going. As he walked across the wooden floorboards and listened to their dull, hollow groans, he asked with a joking air, "Miss Aran, there's something I've been curious about."

Aran didn't even look at him. She replied coolly, "Don't ask. Keep it to yourself. Granny will give you the answers."

She cut him off without a shred of courtesy. Under normal circumstances, that would've been quite rude. Aran expected Yu Xing to get angry, and her expression grew even more rigid, as if she were already prepared to play the prickly ice queen.

But Yu Xing didn't get angry. He chuckled. "It's about you. I doubt River Witch could give me the answer."

Only then did Aran turn her head and give him a glance.

Yu Xing smiled back.

A few seconds later, her lips moved. "Speak."

"I want to know, Miss Aran, why do you dislike us so much?" Yu Xing raised his eyebrows slightly, looking genuinely curious. He lowered his gaze again, listing his points
