Who?
"Who?"
Mice Love to Eat Cats was walking through the dim stairwell when a sudden, heavily emphasized "Who?" rang out and scared him half to death.
He scrambled over to the wall, glancing anxiously up and down the stairs. Both directions were pitch-black, and he couldn't see a thing.
In an instant, he began to hate himself for taking these stairs.
When he realized by the elevator that the thing chasing him really was a ghost, he'd already been terrified out of his mind.
He'd never seen such a clever ghost. It had left, then come back to look for them. In the previous two instances he'd been in, as long as people stayed quiet and didn't move around, the ghosts wouldn't notice anyone, even if they passed right by.
The tasks in those instances had also been very simple.
He still remembered the last one: they had to search for puzzle pieces in a moving two-story villa. Find all four pieces, and they could leave.
There had been a ghost in that villa, too, but as long as you hid behind something, it couldn't find you. The search for the puzzle pieces had been a little convoluted, but in the end, everyone had survived without incident. Nothing like this instance, where they still hadn't found a single clue after all this time, and the ghost was so unusual—and so fast!
Mice Love to Eat Cats ran for his life, reminiscing about his previous instances as he went. By the time he came to his senses, he had no idea which passageway he'd ended up in. The bad news was that Anzhi Tinglan and Ren Leshan, who had been ahead of him, were gone. The good news was that the ghost behind him was gone, too.
He looked around.
