Loss of Her Body and Memories

Xue Zhen was a Nascent Soul cultivator of the Yin Ghost Sect. Her earliest account describes being gravely injured in battle, dying, and having her lingering soul captured by a Yin Ghost Sect cultivator who refined it into an array spirit. After that cultivator died, she remained lost within the Spirit Seizing Array Disk while her memories deteriorated 43 416 421.

The recovery of Sparrow Yin later reveals a crucial missing detail: her disciple Lin He betrayed her, forcing her to abandon her physical body and nearly scattering her soul. Her incomplete soul explains her fragmented memories and fluctuating intelligence 180 181.

Life with Chen Dengming

Chen Dengming obtains her disk from Jiang Qiang without initially knowing she is inside. She watches him cultivate for nearly two months before revealing herself, having remained hidden out of fear. Although he initially tests and intimidates her, her ability to gather single-attribute spiritual energy makes her an important cultivation partner 37 43.

Their relationship gradually becomes protective and affectionate. Chen Dengming recognizes her repeated help during dangerous situations, buys medicines to nourish her body, and provides a Soul House. She becomes deeply attached to the safety of their shared home 70 74 90 98.

Her knowledge of the Yin Ghost Sect's foundational techniques raises doubts about her original account. Lin He's horrified recognition of her as his master establishes her former seniority; Su Yan Yan later recognizes her specifically as Xue Zhen, the Ji Ling True Lord 105 159 416.

Soul Restoration and Longevity

Several of her missing soul fragments are connected to the Yin Spring and the realm beneath it. Chen Dengming and Zhu Xun pursue their recovery, eventually obtaining a Soul Mussel Pearl connected to Xu Wei. Xu Wei's true spirit merges with the Little Array Spirit, restoring a missing soul while leaving her with a profound sense of Xu Wei's presence 289 354 367 369.

The final fragment, living as the Flower Master, is rescued from the Yin Ghost King's mansion. With her soul ready to become complete, she prepares to regain Nascent Soul strength. Nevertheless, her original lifetime and subsequent Yin Longevity leave her facing a serious lifespan limit 380.

She eventually rules Youdu, cultivating with Nether Earth, Yin Springs, and powerful soul resources. When ordinary cultivation still leaves her short of Spirit Transmutation, Chen Dengming personally helps her cross the bottleneck. The breakthrough resolves her immediate longevity crisis 438 450.

Her original demeanor is timid, deferential, and prone to stammering. Her experience of being captured and refined leaves her afraid of cultivators, and early on she trusts only Chen Dengming. She nevertheless works diligently to support his cultivation and takes genuine pleasure in his improvement 43 91 94.

She values a peaceful home and enjoys arranging her surroundings. After gaining a Soul House, she spends days moving illusory furniture between it and her disk. Being able to contribute matters greatly to her: she feels neglected when Chen Dengming stops requesting her cultivation dances 90 94 98.

Her behavior changes with the predominance of different souls and the recovery of memories. Mischievous phases include teasing Chen Dengming, pretending to be hurt to trick him, and taking out her frustration on Zhu Xun during practice.
